System restore problem

I am running Win XP Pro & I am having trouble doing a system restore,
I follow all the procedures carry out the restore to a previous restore date but after it has completed the restore the banner says that the restore was not possible & that no changes have been made to my computer I opened the help window & that only tells me to do another system restore, I have tried different dates going back to January but they all come out the same !! I recon I have tried it at least 7 times. I have had no problems with completing a system restore in the past . Any ideas ???????

i'd say it's fecked. seen this before & always just gone straight to reinstall

after the first time, i started using ghost.

anyone knows different, i'd be very happy to be corrected.
