System restore.....

Samsund NC10, running XP......How come, whatever date I choose, It won't 'restore' to a previous date?.....It always says 'won't restore, chose another date' yet still wont restore whatever date I choose....

Any ideas?......

it will only restore to a date that has a restore point already set, you can't just pick any old date

a common message IME when one actually needs to use the restore function

that's why i always used Acronis when i had pcs.

sounds like you'll have to start from scratch

Look for dates that are in bold, when you click on em it will show restore point's ie like when you installed summat like a windows update

Thanks for the replies, but I've done all that.....Hit a restore point (in bold) still won't restore to that point.....

why are you trying to restore to an earlier time? what are the symptons thats caused you to go down the system restore option?

Just a thought...have you tried running system restore as 'administrator'?

Been away fpr a few days, but just to say 'thank you' for the replies.

However, non of this matters anymore, as the NC10 is going back to Samsung today.......second new screen in three months.....still under warranty......not misused.......never been out of the house (except to be repaired)......

I had the same problem ...

It was cured by restaging the machine. It was badly infected by viruses (thanks, McAffe, excellent products )

No matter what dates I clicked on it refused to complete a system restore ...
