So what's the probs with the T66's? Mine came fitted with them from the factory and so far I can't fault them. Not tried them off road mind you.

T66's

Had them on my 1100GS a good few years ago, good in the dry and even in the damp at first.
Though after 5 or 6,000 miles they really went off and then they were really scary, even though they still had 4 or 5 mm's of tread left.
However when they were at there best they really turned in so quick, a heck of a lot quicker than I can get my 1150GSA to steer on Tourances anyway!

I've tried both, amongst others, & agree totally that they're scary in the wet, would even step out when accelerating with the bike bolt upright (on my 1100 & 1150 - sods law got 'em as OE on both)

Funny thing was when I tested the GSA it was on T66's & turned in much slower than my std GS on Tourances, I put it down to the slightly different steering geometry on the GSA. I've always found the Tourances (& the Anakees that I've got now) turned in much quicker than T66's.

Riding styles? Tyre pressures? Who knows - but someone else's sure to have the defiative answer

I didn't really mean to start a new thread on this - it was supposed to be part of the "instability" one, but hey, we're going now.

I had similar experiences in the wet as you guys - very scary.

Then something about the wear pattern made my 100GS very wobbly at low speed - they wore into a sort of scalloped shape, which created a central ridge around the tyre -ok I can't describe it and I don't have a photo, but it was very weird. The bike would teeter from one side to the next. Made me look like a complete arse!

I never had a similar problem with Conti TKCs or MT 21s or Tourances. Ironically I felt much more in control riding on Knobbies than on the T66s.

I'm off GS's at the mo. Are Tournace's still the tyre of choice?

If you never go off road Bridgestone BT020's are a must, better grip everywhere and quicker steering!!
