My R80ST tacho has started reading higher at all ranges than it was, it is now reading close to 2000 rpm at tickover when it is usually around 900rpm, and is close to red lineing at 50mph in 3rd, it normaly sits well under 4000rpm.

Any idea what could have caused, is causing this?

Dont know if this is any help. While I have been buggering around with my GS charging system I found that if the ignition is on and the battery is disconnected and you connect a charger the taco gives a reading when the engine isnt running. I have also hered that if the battery is going flat that the taco over reads. I would suspect that there is a dodgy/ corroded conection somewhere or you have a suspect battery. Hopefully someone that knows what they are talking about will be allong to point you in the right direction :thumb2:thumb2

my tacho reads 2/3000 at tickover, but seems to head back to normality at higher rpm.

I changed the ICU over to my spare one, and checked over the Dyna coil, and re-tightened all fixings, and cleaned contacts, but it has made no difference to the tacho, it is still reading double, maybe time to get a used tacho from Motorworks
