I have never adjusted mine, just checked it is tight which it always has been. Somehow the locknut has crossthreaded big time. Seeing as I never put in on or adjusted it it must have been like that from new.
So dont f*** them up at £15 a shot.

Sorry to show my ignorance, but what are vario bolts?

The bolt that the OEM vario panniers mount onto. It sticks up in the air like a mushroom. Much talk of making sure they are tightened or your panniers fall off. If its in tight, leave alone.

I thought they were stainless but one on mine has rust on it !

When I picked my bike up my Dealer actually told me to keep an eye on the bolts as they had a habit of undoing and falling off!

He didn't quite twig why I didn't want to buy any vario panniers!
