Tank Bag Map Pocket knackered.. any suggestions..

Fishing for a bit of help with perhaps an obscure problem but you never know.
Evening all,

The clear laminated plastic map pocket cover part of my tank bag has basically turned brown and started coming to bits, I think it may be to do with it having spent a lot of time exposed to the sun.

I wondered if anyone had 'relaminated' after damage or suchlike. My thoughts were to perhaps buy a separate map pocket and then attach it to the bag, but knowing this place is the place for handy pointers..
The bag otherwise is still in decent order and also has a power port in it so I'd like to keep it.

Out of interest the bag has the type where the map is inserted from underneath the top flap, rather than the rolled up bottom one.

I got a quote from the repair agent that Baglux use - very expensive, approx £50 to replace the map pocket clear cover... seemed better value to replace the bag with a used one from ebay - £25 delivered.

Cut off the old bit and get a cobbler to sew a map case to the top of the bag

Similar thickness clear material is sold by the yard for covering children's beds and to protect tables without hiding the wood.

Ive got a Zumo bracket cluttering up my GS instruments area. The sat nav only gets used when I have to find a specific address. Otherwise I'm happier with road signs, a map and my own sense of direction.
