It may have been my imagination, but I'm sure I saw someone on this site selling medium-sized reasonably-priced tank bags for the 1200. Can someone point me in the direction of this thread?

thanks,

Bonj

tank bag

Not sure which thread (you can always try a search)
Wunderlich do a fine medium size bag (not to pricey either)
Highly recommended :)

Bought this one (done by Famsa) and very happy with it; well done, not too small not too big, fits perfectly well and not very expensive (118 Euro or 174 Pounds); highly recommended

Thanks for the replies guys. I was actually after a user of this site who was importing bags to sell to distributors, he offered to sell them to site users for a special price. Can't remember his name though.

any ideas?

Actually, I think it was the Famsa tank bag that the user in question was selling...

Was not me !
I bought it on Ebay from a German distributor (I checked Ebay today - search with R1200GS - and he is still selling this product; check the Famsa website http://www.famsa.it/ ; it is the E-Max tank bag

Tank Bag

The Famsa is available from a site sponsor - I'll PM you his email address

Charged me £70 all in and that includes the tank harness which is kiss easy to fit in seconds . There's plenty of room and it has more pockets than you can shake a stick at!!

I was bought a baglux cover and map pocket as a present. However, problem I find is the map bag is angled too far back down the tank and I really have to crane my neck to see it all. Haven't tried a baglux bag, but from the models I've seen the map pocket angle will be a problem. My baglux cover stays on the bike all the time and the Famsa fits OK over the top whenever I need the tank bag

Good thing about the Famsa is that the map pocket sits nicely flat on top of the bag and is easy to view. Although the map pocket is a little small the position more than makes up for its lack of size

For what I paid, the bag is IMO extremely good value

Agreed Cordroy; I made a mistake with the exchange rate Euro/GBP; I did not pay 174 pounds as said before but 79 pounds

Thanks cordroy - exactly what I was looking for. Will get one ordered ASAP.

To save the hunt, I supplied Cordroy with his.

Try www.eibcltd.co.uk

Caveman also supplied me with mine. It arrived today. It was delayed a couple of weeks due to a new batch arriving from Italy, but Caveman kept me updated over email, which demonstrates real customer care.

Tank bag looks even better "in the flesh" and I wouldn't hesitate to order from Caveman/EIBC again due to the level of service.

What did you fasten the front strap to, to avoid getting in the way of the handle bars on turning? the bit where the chassis number is stamped ?

Cheers

Tank Bag Fitting

Starman

I fitted one to another 1200 last week and the front strap went through the V section of the headstock and had no impact on the steering once in place. It's fairly easy to do once you remove the bag from the baseplate.

Caveman also supplied me with the Famsa bag for my 1100. First class service and a top quality bag. I'm very happy with it as it is a perfect size for carrying my Nikon D70 digital SLR and spare lenses etc. The finish and overall quality of the Famsa is impressive and it is easy to fit and remove.
