What top box have you got on?
My RT has panniers (weren’t they called ‘system’ on the 1150’s?) and a the BMW top box, and a small Givi Tanklock tank bag. I have a charging lead going into it and my phone, spare gloves etc go into it. Particularly handy if doing ferry/tunnel crossings where you need to access things like boarding passes, passports several times in succession.
If I wanted a full size tankbag I think I’d be looking for some Baglux kit, I’ve used them a lot in the past and always found them good gear.

I have 2, a Kappa 53 litre monster that rarely gets used and a Givi 30 litre Dolomiti which is on the bike most of the time and looks okay to me.
The BMW top box is just shy of useless when packing for a camping trip, I’m looking for a replacement and wonder what, if any mods you had to do to mount the Givi?
I used my Wunderlich Elephant bag on my last tour as I’m used to it and it has a ready made gland to pass charging cables through. I mounted it on the base from my GS which kind of worked ok. I bought the specific base for the RT so I didn’t have to use the GS base but it was a waste of money as it doesn’t fit properly. The securing straps are all wrong and to get the bag in the right place, the fuel cap is occluded. I may make some mods to it with the sewing machine over the winter to see if I can get it to work, if not, I’ll use the GS base. Thanks for the reply.
I absolutely hate the standard BMW R1150RT topbox, it looks awful, any Givi topbox is better. All you need is the Givi Monokey topbox base plate and you can then fit any Givi/Kappa topbox.

Apart from the plastic Givi topbox mount, as in your photo, does it require any further parts underneath, or does it simply attach to the original BMW topbox mount? I've recently purchased a Givi 'universal' mount and would like to use my Givi 52lt box on the RT. I am looking to 'thin out' my collection of top boxes down to one to use on all three bikes.

Ive got one from my 1100RT. The elastics are a bit worn but could be replaced. Fittings should be as per the 1150RT I think? You can have it for the postage.

You need to buy the Givi E183 kit shown in my post above which is not cheap.
Plenty on Ebay but most are from Italy so you will also be charged VAT, Customs and handling fee on top.
Also note that the very deceptively named "Isle of Man Shop" is also in Italy.
