Didn't want to hijack the the 'Paint protection stickers/film for a 2017 Adventure tank' thread.

Anyone recommend a decent tank pad for the TB GSA. I have transferred a Wunderlich one over from my previous bike.

Yes I managed to get it off, clean up and re-apply double sided tape - well there not cheap!

But to be fair its a bit bland and I could do with something a bit wider to give extra protection. That black is so going to mark easy.

I used the one from the S1000R on mine, but as I don't have a huge belly, never made contact with the tank.:augie:D

Me too, fits well and looks good on the new Triple Black. I got mine from Bahnstormers and it cost £43.37 including carriage.

Update.

Went with the Amazon one as suggested. It does cover a large area. The greys and blacks compliment the colour of the bike.

As for fitting. That's another story. Had a go in a lit garage and thought I'd got it square. Not so. :nenau Removed with some gentle hair dryer heat and re organised on the backing paper. Then consulted the interweb. Some useful youtube clips and then round 2 this time outside in natural light. With the use of plenty of masking tape to mark up square got it applied to my satisfaction.:thumb

BMW replaced my TB tank due to the wear/scuffs after 1000km. It is a BS finish for an adventure bike. Major gripe for me on this bike's tank finish. On the new tank I tried the film type products from Wunderlich and here https://www.signaturecd.com/product...e-lc-triple-black-tank-protection-film-matte/
Looked terrible as makes the tank glossy yet at the gaps it is matte.

Also tried teh Wunderlich rubber tank pads, but they won't line up with the 'GS' graphics so really would look bad.

Ended up going for clear Plasti-dip. Looks great as still matte and basically invisible and doesn't scuff. At $20/can it is the best and cheapest solution, wish I'd thought of it first instead of wasting $ on films. The films such as 3M etc still scuff.

I currently have the 3M film on and not happy at all. Also never thought of plasti-dip - :blast
How durable has plasti-dip been on your bike ? How long do you think it will last ?

Only had it on for a few weeks, but from past experience it is tough...most uses for it are on mag wheels and exhaust tips and it lasts for years. The 3M film scuffs and is too shiny.

I removed the surrounding tank panels and warmed the Plastidip in warm water to ensure a fine finish. 5 coats. I did a dirt ride this weekend and no scuffs or marks from standing knee contact. The great thing that if it looks bad after a few years I'll just peel it off and re-spray.

Thank you sir. I am definitely going to go this route ... once I manage to get the film off my bike.

Just remember to warm up the cans for 10 mins in warm water as makes a huge difference to get a really smooth finish. Also very light coats, esp coats 1 & 2. Plenty of YouTube vids on this.

The finish isn't smooth to touch as essentially rubber.

Just warm up the old 3M film with heat gun or dryer, comes off easily.
