Tank panniers?

Thinking about getting a pair of tank panniers, anyone recommendations? Bike's an 1150 fitted with an Adventure tank.

I'm thinking of storing a 1.5 litre Camelbak water bladder in one of them rather than carrying it in a small rucksack (which I already have) or in the back of my HG jacket.

What about ex-Army gas mask bags or similar, anyone used them?

Whilst travelling forwards, the heat from the engine will not have time to rise. Sitting in traffic for a long time may cause the water to heat up but I tend to turn the engine off in these situations.

I was thinking about wrapping the bladder in foil to reflect heat & keep the water cool anyway.

Rather avoid T/tech stuff if possible.

kept a platypus water container in a VP45 tank pannier during my trip garmisch recently.

water did not appear warmer than i would expect given ambient temps. good bit of kit, chafes tank paint though.

I had thought about putting a water Container in the lid of
one of my Panniers , then a customer ordered a set with
a two inch lid , which i looked at very seriously.
I came to the Conclusion it would be better off on the Outside
where it wouldnt affect the Water tightness of the Cases.

Steve in complete honesty i think this aint gonnie work on a
Vp45 heat will ruin your water ,And on top of that as
Cookie says , it will deffo chaff your tank.

I tried gas mask bags on my 1200 - didn't work too well - had more success with Rocket Packs

just got hold of a s/h set of zegas with frames for oilhead and airhead, locks and inner bags. spot on

Thanks for the replies.

I think I'll check out the gas mask bag option first. I'm aware of potential paint chaffing issues & will probably line the rear of the bags & straps with velcro & a soft fleece material.

Your Local Vinyl Graffixs supplier , should be able to cut you
a piece of vinyl to the shape you need and a similar Colour
to boot. This will protecet your tank Paint work.

I use it under a VP45 with tank panniers and it works really well.

They appear, from looking around online, to be 10 litres each like the TT ones, and they have a built-in water bladder compartment with an outlet for the pipe.

Those pouches look good apart from the camo pattern. Saw some gas mask bags today that will do the job. They each come with an adjustable strap to connect them together over the top of the tank.
