Tank protection for lc gsa

3M Ventureshield.:rob:thumb

it depends on how much of the tank panel area you want to cover though as regards ventureshield kits, there tank pad only goes round the rubber tank pad and up the same face as far as the petrol filler, if like me you want something to protect the painted surface when you have a tank bag on etc., the ventureshield tank pad is useless:blast, as when a tank bag is sat in position, only a small area is protected leaving the rest un protected, I was disappointed by this:1/10, now if your prepared to buy the ventureshield vinyl and template it yourself to get it where you want it, then as said, deffo the way to go:thumby:

Probably more than what you are after, but how about a Baglux tank cover (if there is one for the 2014 lc gsa)

I've got a big roll of Ventureshield, which comes in handy every now and then. I've just fitted a Velcro map pocket to the tank, and cut some pieces of VS to protect the paintwork where the straps rub. I didn't spend too long cutting fancy shapes, so will just peel it off when I get back from my trip.:thumb

I was thinking of something like the black rubber one you get with the lc gs, that's maybe a bit bigger.

Speedycom performance do a great range of tank pad rubbers - speedycom.co.uk. I used their Techspec C3 on my GSA WC and it works a treat. Comes in large pads and you just cut out the shape you require and very easy to fit. If I knew how to post a photo I'd show it on my bike!

My dealer fitted a BMW black rubber GS pad from a 1200LC , approx £20 and very worthwhile it has been: I stalled my new panzer(discussed in the grunt thread) and rolled away and my left boot ripped the pad clean off. For sure my boot would have damaged the tank if the pad wasn't there. No damage whatsoever, now replaced, just my pride hurt :thumb Do fit some protection.

Sounds like a plan although l have the large tank bag and there is a velcro attachment for the straps stuck to the tank above the seat.

I have just learned that the GS pad comes with clips, which are designed to insert into a recess in the LC GS. If you wish to fit it to the WC GSA, you need to cut the clips off and silicone the pad to the tank: that's what my dealer did.

I am after protection for the silver sides of the aluminium tank of my new LC Adventure, and if I can get hold of some Ventureshield I'll cut a few pieces out to lay over the outer parts of the sub-framing where boots tend to wear the paint off.

I saw a GS-LC with a Baglux Tank cover in Hawes Yorkshire at weekend, looked good and gave massive protection for all of the tank etc.

I fitted a venture shield kit to my 2014 wc gsa
It covers the top and sides of the tank as well as the beak etc
It was fairly easy to fit but it doesn't cover forward of the filler cap so not good enough for a tank bag.

Shortywilliam, please could you tell me where you got the VS kit from?

Thanks
