tank protection

hi all

picked up my tripple black last week, i had the Gardx ceramic coating done while it was in the dealers, the more i look at the tank the more i can see the potential for scratching it.

what are peoples thoughts on this or should i go the ppf route or is this overkill

I had PPF applied to my TB by the dealer (they just sub it out). The guy did an excellent job and although it's not cheap I'm glad I had it done.

within 1000 miles i could ever so slightly see brush marks from my knees,i have fitted the motografix kit to my r1300gsa

Most triple black R1300GS Adventures I have looked at closely have scratches on the side of the tanks.
Think that the lacquer is possibly too soft.

If I owned one. I would definitely get some form of protection for it.

I find nothing protects me more than this Tank....you're welcome.

A car detailer I know, who does lots of very very expensive cars and bikes, reminded me that PPF should be removed after 5 years. After that paint an/or panel damage is likely when it’s removed.

Iive purchased a PPF full laser cut kit for the bike, should get it this week and see how it goes with the install

I had it put on the tank side panels on my 2020 1250GS TE Exclusive after 1 side was replaced under warranty after doing less than 1000 miles and the tank looked exactly the same when I traded it in nearly 4 years later. I also had PPF put on my 2023 1250RS when new and I will get it done on any new bike I get in future. Tony James design did mine before I got it from Cotswold Motorrad
