Tank slapper ?

My R65 has high bars and after market (Guzzi Sparda) h/bar fairing,panniers/top box. Newish tyres (Conti Go) at 30 reanot comfident of touring as it isr/28/front psi and I am 10 stone. When starting off if bars are turned either way bike goes into "tank slapper" which cant be corrected unless bike is brought to a halt...bloody frightening! Am concidering fitting an after market steering damper as not happy using it as it is ,alway been a bit light on front end .Bike is not bent or anything .anyone had this problem,? Not new to biking by the way....... chris

Is your R65 a mono or twin shock?

Monos have outstanding handling, twin shocks are more than adequate.
I'd suspect tyre out odf true or even swing arm bearings out of adjustment..
post a pic of the bike, I wanna see if it's anything obvious...

Tank slapper

Think I sussed the problem,took the topbox off and now carry security chain on front engine bars,much better now....still going to fit small friction damper bottom of steering yolk. Wouldnt have thought topbox would make the difference shall use the panniers/tankbag in future.

Might be rear shock gone if that much weight makes it shake its head ??

As said above, check rear shocker.

I had a similar issue with my PD, tired all sorts to fix, head bearings, tyres, loading bike differently.

See if you have any rebound dampening on rear shock

We've still no idea if it's a mono or twinshock..
I've had a twinshock with one fucked shock that rode like that...

Mono's bounce like buggery as soon as shock is on it's way..

It COULD the chain in the top box, have you seen the size of the fuckers they have to use in Stoke on Trent
