This is not cost effective , you need a very skilled man , and access to an English wheel. I had both , and it still wasnt right.
You can buy the Bigger tank for Eur600 ish .

Let's kill the myth about a bigger tank beeing no good unless you are going round the world. I know from experience that the tank on a GSA is almost twice the range as a GS 36 ltrs against 20. Yes I know the GSA tank is 33 litres but I always got 35/36 litres in. Makes a huge difference to my commute filling up once a week instead of twice. Same with my F800gsa 27 litres instead of 17. I know it should be 24 and 16 but these are real figures obtained in the real world. There is no filling station on my most direct route to work. It's great not to have to flute around getting petrol more often than I have to. What's the main criticism of the vfr1200? Fuel range. If someone wants a bigger tank why not? I never had a problem with the extra weight. After all 16 litres weighs about 12 kilos. My stomach weighs 20. If the weight does prove to be a major problem just put in what you can manage. I can honestly say that I cannot tell the difference between full and empty handling wise. Maby I'm thick. I'm happy with that. If I could get a 45 litre tank I'd have it if it was not too dear. Jjh

Only real difference you feel between full and not full is, getting it off the side stand is tad more difficult. The bike handles the same.

I wish I could afford another 12 GSA. Bloody great bike. Poxy seat easy cured. Main reason for doing lotto. Jjh

I hate stopping for fuel when touring in Europe,I put an Adventure tank on my 1150 which meant refuelling at 320 plus miles rather than a 170 miles maximum , because of this when I replaced the 1150 I bought a r1200gsa and then it was replaced with a r1200gsa lc .
It makes a huge difference even if you are just commuting or out for a run locally..........I went out on my gsx1100 katana around the Scottish borders and had to fill up twice due to the 120 mile range .
I did originally look into having a standard 1150 tank modified or have an aluminium tank made. The latter was prohibitively expensive and the former having seen the results of a couple of tanks didn't look right.

Surely the easiest solution for more capacity would be another tank, and tee'd into the existing fuel line?
