Hi,

I'm looking at riding down to Merzouga and then onto Taouz and then take the piste across to Jbel Zagora.

I went down to Merzouga late May last year and it was just too hot. But planning at being there around the 10th to the 15th of April next year. Does any one know whether or not it's too hot still at this tile of year, or is it OK. Also how easy is it, i'll be on a GS and my mate will be on a Transalp. If it's possible how hard core is it and how long will it take. If all is OK any suggestions on essentials i.e. extra fuel etc.

Were also looking at doing Tagounite to Foum Zguid, but i'll put another thread on for that.

Cheers,

Hello,
The road from Merzouga to Taouz is a tarmac. And from Taous to Zagoura is pist. The only sandy place is in a Oued near Ramlia ,and called RHERIS.The rest of pist from after Ramlia to Zagoura is good. The fuel is available along the pist. You can find in Ramlia,Fougani,Oum jrane and Tissmoumine. You can have more info by visiting our home page.
have a nice trip

Cheers, for the guidance, probably try and touch base with you, as we'll be staying in Merzouga the night before doing the piste.

Has anyone done this road ....... any one know how many miles it is so i can estimate time and fuel......would be very gratful , thanks

according to the map it's about 200Km. based upon stuff I did last year we averaged about 10Km per hour, so 2 good long days. The thread says you can get fuel on the way. I'll probably take enough food, water and fuel to do the hole trip.

I'm also concerned about the temperature, as it was just too hot in mid May!!!!

i'll tell you what i found strange, i seamed get the same MPG at 15 mph as i did at 60, so one take will do 200 Km, well just about????

Steptoe, Please explain the comment if you'd be so kind? The last thing I want is to be caught out, shit can happen.

I've not done piste in the Sahara, but in the Atlas, so any guidance would be welcome.

Cheers,
