Tapatalk suddenly not displaying pictures ?

I wasn't having a go at you or the other tapatalk users really, but working in IT I know how frustrating it can be when the perception of 'fault' doesn't match the reality.

Going back a few years when I was working for an ISP we had a whole Science Park lose connectivity. 40 or so bio-medical and life sciences companies who were down. You can imagine the cost per hour of the lost productivity.

Of course I get the call because we provide the internet, and the internet isn't working. Our tech team can't remote into anything at all. We can't even see the network. I'm closest to the site so I drop everything and go straight there.

I spotted the problem immediately as I drove in to the site and had to try to wipe the smugness off my face when I met with the landlord.

Landlord starts the usual predictable flapping tirade of 'how could you let this happen?' type stuff and when I got my turn to reply I calmly pointed out that the reason I'd suggested they have a secondary backup connection for the site which was deemed too expensive was exactly for situations like this.

Another lot of flapping from the landlord followed by me saying that the reason we'd provided them detailed mapping of the ducts was precisely so that they wouldn't go putting diggers to work right over the fibre path....

There was a bit of a silence as the reality started to dawn. Suddenly the £300/month for a second line didn't seem expensive and perhaps there was a reason I'd sent the ductwork plans, and perhaps it wasn't my fault they'd severed their own connection with a JCB....

How long will it take to fix?
Dunno, you've dug through the Openreach bit not ours. Ask them. Normally a couple of weeks.... :D

We did sort them out and put in a temporary (expensive) measure the next day

Anyway...

Maybe try something like Forum Talker instead? I've never used it and don't know if it supports webp or if it's any good, but it comes up as an alternative to Crapatalk.

Why is anyone still using Tapatalk, it's not needed anymore. Use any browser, no need for any setup, it just works.

Chat GPT reports Ten Million Tapatalk downloads from Google Play store, since 2011.
I am not alone in my liking for Tapatalk ; reasons already discussed on here .

Can you spot any difference between these two screenshots?

Tapatalk pics are working today.
As already pointed out, some pictures will work, but the newer ones that are now (and in the future) stored in the .webp format won't.

It's a limitation of TapaTalk.

If you like it, then carry on using it. Nothing stopping you doing that, but just be aware that unless they start supporting that format you will find that you won't be able to see photos in any new posts going forward (unless people link to them from external sites).

As long as you're happy with that, then carry on. If not then you're going to have to consider a different way of viewing the site.

Not that complicated really, and it doesn't have to turn into a TapaTalk bashing / defending session. It's not like we're discussing Apple v Microsoft where that sort of argument is mandatory :D

Those of us who know why Apple is better also know that TapaTalk is shit and that's an end to both arguments. :upyou

I’m only getting greyed out img.webdp messages
i.e. no image
IOS 18.5 (Latest IOS) plus Latest Tapatalk
Very possibly a result of the latest IOS download
Sorry not paying attention to when IOS changed
All available app permissions are set to ON
Safari permissions permit tracking
I have not changed any permissions and full reboot tried unsuccessfully .
Ditched Tapat*at when forum got switched over to new version, this must’ve been two years ago now.

Yes, although both are perfectly legible one requires setup and work to use properly and does not display certain photos and the other just works without any setup at all :D

That's one way of looking at it....

One of them is making me break out in a rash it's so cluttered.

Horses for coarses.

But gloat away.

This is how your post displayed for me, no clutter at all (and no setup). Maybe try Firefox, it's a better browser than Safari (if that's what you are using?).

What's Safari??

Is that the Apple browser?

Just got a bit of sick in my mouth even thinking about holding an iPhone.

I'm going to persist and see if I can get used to the browser version on the phone.

The photo issue while using Tapatalk, while it only happens occasionally, is wrecking my fVckin head.

Changed to the light theme and it seems to be a little easier to deal with.
