I was about to start doing the Henry-trick to get fuel from my 30 liter Adventure tank. To fill a fuel bottle for a camp stove, to help a friend on the road to some fuel, to empty the tank before removing it, ...
Handyman Henry has invented a cool trick for that, as you can see on his site (Aux fuelpump switch, empty the tank easy).
But with the big Adventure-tank it can be done a lot simpler
: there is a fuel hose between the left and the right "cheek" of the tank.
* undo the quick connector on this hose (the white one)
* pull the hose from under the tank to the left hand side (goes past the edge of the left cilinder nicely)
* stick a piece of plastic hose with an outer diameter of 11mm into the quick connector as far as possible
* the fuel starts to flow
A fairly rigid hose with an outer diameter of 11mm fits nicely. A smaller hose will work too, but it gets kinda messy because the fuel passes between the connector and the tube. The hose needs to be rigid enough to apply some pressure to the shut off mechanism inside the connector.
I suppose this will work with the Touratech quick connectors too? But I think the inner diameter of those is smaller.
I now have a piece of hose under my seat. Maybe other riders find this a useful tip.
