This is probably an age old problem, but where on the 1150GS do you put your tax disc holder? At the moment its where the dealer put it, on the front of the LHS head on a bolt used for the cylinder protector - but down there at this time of year it wont last five minutes - any pointers? Ta!

on the bolt which retains the rear silencer, near to the rear footpeg, in the loop which holds the footpeg on.

Mine is bolted on where the exhaust is held, sits just above it if that makes sense

Don't have that problem over here :D but I remember someone using some clear sticky back plastic to put it on their fork leg. Thought it was a good idea, less chance of a scrote nicking it.

behind left cylinder

saw one on someone elses bike, behind left cylinder out of mucks way with head protector bolt. thought that was good so put mine there but in an allen keyed alluminium holder. legal requirement to display methinks ??

Had one of mine nicked years back off my CX500. Two weeks before it expired. I informed the Police, and just got another. Six months later, Police come a-knocking to inform me that someone had been caught driving with my stolen disc, the day before in Lincolshire. Non too bright, some of these scrotes, are they? :D:D

I now keep mine on ther afore mentioned fasterner for the cylinder head protector, behind left cylinder. Doesn't seem to be trouibled by crap...

And yep, it's a hundred quids worth off offence not to display one...

Dave.

Near side, below the seat, on a frame bolt, where it doesn't foul anything.

Apparently it no longer has to be in front of the rider - just visible from the kerb.

cheers for all the pointers chaps - much appreciated. When the frost dissappears I may be brav enough to go and have a play! Not today though, brrrrrrr.!!!

I read an article that quoted 60% of bikes were recorded as un-taxed anyway...
BTW mines fixed near the rear footrest area also on left side.

+1, just below the seat, same bolt which I think secures the fuse/relay box.

Bob, your photo defiition si too high, we can read your reg no.

Mines bolted to the silencer bracket also. However its a photocopy that lives in the holder :)

Who on earth needs an internet forum to answer a question like that? Just stick the f*cking thing anywhere.

Sorry bit of a Tarka moment there.

Such a seemingly simple question...

For sake of summary and to give what I looked at this for, the general concensus is either the rear exhaust bracket or your pocket/wallet/home.

Best I have seen yet on this sort of thing is a courier in London (I think on an RS) who left the bike on a red route line at the side of the road and removed his reg plate before dropping off a package, clipping it back on when he came back out....

All the assorted pages and pages of tax disc position and related info is here:rob:

I have stuck mine on the exhaust bolt too, but was looking for somewhere better - guess I will leave it where it is!
