Tayto - world famous in Ireland...

They're greasy and lack flavour and always on the edge of staleness

this could quite easily describe the Republics current crop of politicians

Golden Wonder purveyors of potato snacks to her Majesty.
Now that's a crisp

aye you can picture the old girl in her local ordering a pint of bitter and packet of golden wonder....:augie

Never understood why all the Irish go crazy for the Taytos.
They've got to be the worst crisps ever.
They're greasy and lack flavour and always on the edge of staleness

Thal'll be those Nordie Tayto then...
The Free State ones are the crips you want.. And they've only got better when they moved production from Coolock to Ashbourne...

Although, A packet of these yokes and a Pint of Rock shandy can't be beaten in this weather...

I think Mr. Tayto could take him!

IMHO, the King (also made by Tayto) are the superior crisp, the regular Taytos a close second. The nordie ones (different company completely) aren't up to much and as for the Gary Lineker advertised shite from across the water...

Lived in Ennis for a number of years, at the time Supermacs was the height of take away sophistication, but the throught of trying one again does not appeal. (Actually Enzos was the best chipper in the town, and is the one in Lahinch now that I think of it, see fish dash thread for more).

Now Abrakebra I can do, garlic chip and cheese? For some reason melted cheese is what I look for after a beer.
Being from Monaghan though, the take away food of choice was always a sausage n gravy chip from Hang Fung of Park Street (the name alone was worth a visit. It's also one of those grim northern take aways that you don't get so much of these days, formica, plastic and lino all round, and the kitchen well hidden from view).

Anyway back to crisps. I attach a pic for posterity of the Mr. Reily Barbeque Flavour things. They had a nice crunch and a pleasant flavour, but a bit on the greasy side. The array of different shapes was impressive though. As might be the court case from tayto if they ever see the potato shaped man that adorns the crisp bags.
