Hi all,

Whilst in Scotland (Moffat) at the Buccleuch Arms - I had the pleasure to ride their newly acquired 1996 R1100GS (19k miles). This fuel injected motor had a wonderful crispness to its delivery and went like stink. My 2012 R1200GS TC, whilst being more powerful does not have the same feel to it (being more erm..... creamy and less eager). I am thinking that ditching the cat might solve this as routing the gases through the matrix somehow restricts the motor? Is this the case? I might go down the de-cat headers, pipe and hilltop remap route?

Any experience of this?? Cheers . Steve

Hi Steve
If it helps. 2007 r1200gsa.I went the decat, new headers, standard silencer, Hill top retune. It really has given it a more urgent power delivery (especially at around 5,500 if you open the throttle it seems to leap like a greyhound out of the starting box). I'm glad I did it.

Decat headers with free flow silencer will make the engine behave as the engineers designed it. Free flow air filter adds a bit more. But adding all of that will need a remap because the ECU has limited ability to adapt to the changes.
None of these will make a huge difference unless it's remapped.
