TC Exhaust can

I de-catted my standard headers and kept the standard exhaust. Bike is '11 plate GSA, Hilltop tuned, goes great. I like the look of the OEM exhaust system and don't worry about the weight on what is already a heavy bike. Plus, if you scratch you tail pipe you can get an as new replacement on eBay for a few quid. I junked the flappy valve with no ill effects too.
I'd love a full titanium akrapovic system, but can't justify the cost. I'm only probably missing out on a couple of HP anyway. :thumby:

I got a full Akra Ti system with stacked twin cans for £450.
Yes I'm a tart but they were/are best part of £1500 new. :o

Akro+

I added just the Akro end can and was surprised that it not only pulled better but the bike was also smoother.

When I booked it in for a service they offered to fit a K & N filter and retune the bike as part of the service for an extra £15
It`s the best £15 I have spent the bike pulls better throughout the rev range is noticeably quicker and even seems to be doing more to the gallon! (the can is 3 or 4LB lighter)

I told Alan Jeffries service department how happy I was, with the improvement. They told me they had downloaded a new fuel injection program. I think this does away with the lean flat spots on the standard bike in order to comply with noise and emissions. Maybe not as big an improvement as Hilltop but well worth the money. Got the Akro on here for £375 posted.

Give it a go before you spend a fortune changing to a new LC:thumb
Sounds nicer too

There is absolutely NO chance of me ever having a WC so no probs there lol

K & N; kidding owners they've just "gained power" for years. I defy anyone to show me proof that the standard OE filter, which does a good job of filtering, in any way restricts performance ?

K&N Air Filter, Akro Ti end can, flap removed and Hilltop remap - bike runs and sounds great - pick up from low revs with a fistful of throttle much much much better..

I am saying that the bike from new is set up to run incorrectly, so the change of End can, Air filter and a remapped fuel injection has made the change.
The filter must flow more air as you cannot fit one without a remap or power commander.

It only cost £15 more and Alan Jefferies offer to clean it for free at the next service, so it`s not cost me.

Doesnt getting rid of the flappy paddle thingy make a noisy bike even noisier? The exhaust racket is one thing I dont like about my TC - way noisier than the GS I had before.

I don't doubt that the bikes run lean, & that the re-map makes hell of a difference, but no-one has yet convinced me that a K & N filter is a good thing on the road. Geoff (or is he Jeff) at Hilltop is very disparaging of them on road bikes. As I say, I wait to see evidence that the OE filter & induction is lacking.

No not really, I can hardly notice the difference. I think removing the cat made more difference to the noise level.

My Mk2 (pre flappy valve) has the Akraprovic system with stacked twin cans. It's LOUD out of the box.
A 30mm universal baffle in each can has made a huge difference. They don't plug the pipe like a fitted baffle does instead they are bolted on with a spacer to sit centrally in the outlet.

I had the full Akroprovic titanium system on my twincam for a day or two but took it off and sold it on far too loud for me but it did look nice and weighed next to nothing

Like this ! I also fitted baffles, ktm950 akro ones fit and it was still loud, i like less noise now and prefer stock noise level.

Akra

If you fit the optional bent tube which extends 5 inches into the Akra end can the exhaust is very close to the older GS exhaust note and quieter than the standard TCs.

I have one for sale if you are interested as it was too quiet for me fitted the short stubby one.

Same system and out of the box it's LOUD. But with ordinary 30mm diameter baffles ("£10 to £15 each) it's not loud. They are small enough to go down the pipe even though it's angled at the end.

I've not swapped back to the standard can but I reckon it's no better than these baffled Akras.
