I have a standard TC. I am considering changing the exhaust for the BMW supplied Akroprovic. I would like some feedback from those that have done this. My main concerns are the increase in noise. Is it annoying on long runs. And does it effect the fueling in any way?

All feedback gratefully received.

I'm assuming your talking about the end can only, I have changed mine last year, no impact on mpg, claimed 2bhp increase noticeable (might be in my mind lol), has a rather nicer sound than the oem can, Ive taken the baffle out and dont find it too loud, the stats published on line claim the same decibels as the oem can with the baffle left in.
Fitting the whole thing is very easy if you take your time and follow the instructions.
Taking the baffle out or putting it back in is easy just one grab screw.

There's no real difference performance wise unless you decat the headers as well. It will be marginally noisier with the Akra can but that's about it.

Its the end can only.

Main concern is the noise on a long run. The OEM sounds pretty good. A little more bass would be good but not too much.

with the baffle in it will be slightly quieter than standard, the std ex is too noisey for me on 600 mile runs so i fitted a carbon remus which is much nicer on a run,all my opinion of course.

I have the Akra without the BMW badge on my GSA with the decat headers. It's quieter than the OEM, but higher pitched.

I wouldn't say the Akra is quieter than the standard can. It is a different sound/pitch, and has a chirp to it. My pillion prefers the standard can - but I'm not going back to it.

Without the baffle it is louder than standard, and with decat pipes, it is much much louder. I will try the baffle in for our next euro trip and hopefully my pillion will be happy enough, fingers crossed.

Akraprovic systems can be quite harsh sounding. The Remus Hexacone without baffle & Remus decat headers has a soft gruff sound but certainly not offensive. With baffle it would be even more gentle.

I suggested the Remus because there are not many about.

I have this on my 09 SC and sounds better than standard in my opinion. I run it without the baffle. it sounds identical to my HP2 Enduro which came with the same back box. It bangs and pops on the overrun (if you crack the throttle open a couple of mm) in exactly the same way. I had the double barrelled full Akra on my old 05 and that was infinitely better (performance wise and noise) . But i can imagine that people who doent like noise would be a little bothered by the increased drone on a long trip.
The Remus system I had previously on the 05 didnt have the balance pipe accross the front if I recall, that was a pretty good system though.

I had the Akro headers + pipe on my Old TC .Now just the standard system , its loud enough and the bike faster enough and by doing Dry January have lost more weight than swapping to the full akro !! :D

I have the double barrel Akraprovic on mine. The sound is quite a higher not than the single can systems. And... LOUD. But bafles calmed it down nicely.
