Anyone know of a better deal than £85 or so for tyre delivered (but not fitted) for F650 front?

Micheldever are usually cheapest. Nowhere near you though. I expect they might have a dealer near you, or possibly do post.

There was ...

... a chap at the Cotswolds do who had Hiedenaus (?) fitted to his F650 Twin, he seemed quite happy with them and apparently managed the off-road ride if the relevant photos are to be believed

That's a good price, I had one recently for £90 to a local dealer - just have to change it now!
