Okay it's only 1 room & it is 'rather expensive', by the hotel owner's own description, but I know some people have been looking.

We stayed at The Black Horse, Grassington over the weekend & I was chatting to the owner about accomodation when Le Tour is on.

He has 1 room available but he's only doing 'package deals' for 2 nights whilst The Tour is in town. The deal is for 1 room, BB & evening meal for the 2 nights. He did explain that most restaurants are already fully booked & he's keeping his restuarant tables reserved for hotel guests only.

So there you are. There is a room available on the 4th & 5th July if you want it & are prepared to pay the obvious premium being charged.

Lol. I daren't ask.

I'm not surprised. I know in France the towns that Le Tour goes through have to pay for the pleasure.
The gent I was speaking to was very apologetic but explained that Grassington Chamber of Commerce had paid a lot of money to get Le Tour through & local businesses had to stump up some of the cost. He was at pains to highlight that it is only his 'best room' that is available.
There will also be an element of supply & demand as well. I suppose the fact that most places are full is indicative that people are happy to pay the price.

Our deal last weekend was for a standard room but a pretty similar deal - it included 3 course meals both nights, a bottle of wine & a couple of glasses of cava & coffee & mints on one night and came in at £250.

If we weren't going on holiday a couple of days later I'd have taken him up on the TDF option tbh.
 
Looked at the website and they have moved the bar, and it looks a lot tidier than it used to. Mind you, I was drunk most of the time I was in there !.
 
It has recently been 'renovated'. It was okay. Clean,tidy & warm. Decent food, pleasant staff. Couldn't ask for much more for the price I paid tbh.
