Tea with Bin laden's brother...Adventure biking graphic novel!

Dave - if there isn't let me know and I'll get you a copy and sort something out with you.

Thanks for offer. Mrs tells me she has pay pal account so will order for me. As long as I pay her back!

Hope things are well, long time no see

It's a good read. Simon should be made Foreign Secretary because he can find good people where our worthless politicians can't.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the positive feedback! ...and cheers for all the orders - sales are going well. I've just had to dig deep and order another 200. A good sign. My editor has suggested digging even deeper and getting another 200 done before long - thinking of the Xmas market. Is that sleigh bells I can hear?

If you've not got access to Paypal, drop me a line via the website http://www.teawithbinladensbrother.com and I'll let you have the address to send a cheque/large sums of cash through to.

Just sending copies out to the mags to hopefully get a review/plug. I'll let you know how I get on. Any other tips?

Received my copy yesterday, Great story and brilliantly written and illustrated.
Unputdownable:mmmm:clap.

Top bloke Simon

Paypal operated, looking forward to next weeks "early evenings in with a good book"
:)

Got my copy from Bath Road. Mike was well impressed with the cartoon of himself in it. And he's used that quote on me too! Good luck with the sales.

I read mine the moment it arrived and have re-read it since.

Agreed, the whole thing is very well done and the art work makes it. I think that there's a market for a more detailed version with more pen and wash sketches (the few in the book are far better than photos IMO).

Glad you liked the paintings as well as the cartoon strips. They're pencil and watercolour worked up from compilations of photos taken en route. There's huge amounts of material and I'm planning more - maybe an exhibition. Is there a market for Adventure Motorcycling paintings - what do you think?

Is there a market for Adventure Motorcycling paintings?

Definitely. Probably in a fairly large format book.

Photos are too dependent upon depth-of-field. Sketches (good ones, unlike mine) provide a more balanced impression. It's all in focus in a sketch and you can pick-out a level of detail that's enough to convey the view without it overwhelming the eye.

The two you have added here from your book are classic examples.

In this day of digital photography, camera capacity means that by accident or design, there are loads of nice photos of almost everywhere. It's all getting a bit samey. Your water-colours bring a completely new perspective and people can admire your talent as well as the landscape.

The right balance of water-colours, words and cartoon-strip would appeal to a lot wider public.

Simon

Have to agree with Mike P. It's a market that hasn't been tapped into (yet). You never know you may start a trend. A coffee table book or a nice selection of (dare I say) greetings cards*. I personally have a preference for watercolurs anyway.

Will be at the book signing in Bath on the 17th. What time shall I arrive for canapes and drinks?

*The number of times friends or family have sent crap B'day cards (mainly with an iccle pussycat on them) with a little ps at the end saying I couldn't find a card with a motorbike on it. So, your amazing images with an adventure bike theme and you have a golden opportunity.

Simon,

Thanks for re-uniting me with my signed copy of the book (the one left at Horizons :blast), I know it was ages ago but no one in the office thought it needed bringing to my attention it had arrived :blast :blast

It's a great book and the talk was thoroughly enjoyable, even knocked Mr Vince's performance in to a cocked hat :hide

Cheers,

judge
