Be prepared for judicious wallet emptying, phoned Judd's yesterday who quoted £350 for the annual service, Norton a year old with 1,200 miles. Drive chain mantenance I do as a matter of course so in the 90 minute allocated time in reality they would do:
  • Fluids: Change engine oil and transmission oil (always do both at the same time). Replace oil filter.
  • Engine/Fuel: Check throttle cable operation, inspect malfunction codes, and check the evaporative emission control system ie empty the cannister if required which would be empty as I do this anyway.
  • Chassis & Suspension: Inspect steering head bearing play, lubricate centre/side stand pivots, check front fork operation, and inspect brake fluid levels/pads.
  • Electrics: Check battery voltage, inspect all bulbs, switches, and adjust headlamp beam
Out right refusal to take even a few quid from this and if I supply the oil the saving would be £20, but looking at an invoice for the same service they charged a mate £72 for oil, so how does that work ? I don't think so Judd's , will go back to Krazy Horse in Bury St Edmunds, pay £240 and get great service from one of the most experienced Norton dealers around.

There's an independent ex Norton mechanic called Stuart Bodycote who has authorisation from the factory to work on the bikes. But not sure with ones that are still under warranty.

Heard great things about him, trades under the name of Motorvated Ltd, based in Derby and is a former service manager with the Donnington factory. From what I have been told he offers an overhaul service whereby he corrects known issues, things that were not engineered right so the bikes supposedly have fewer problems going forward.

Stuart top man he serviced my 961 last year and corrected all know faults top man

Given the design of the new Norton range I’m not that surprised Teasdales have changed. The Manx R superbike looks ok but it’s naked version is hideous and the twins mediocre looking.

Agreed, I was not impressed by the new models at the NEC bike show. Even if they ride brilliantly I would not have one. Can't see the them being great sellers and a couple of Norton dealers I have spoken to think likewise.

It's a no go on Stuart Bodycote / Motovated while under warranty.

Oakmere in Stockport is now my local dealer.

Anyone else think the new Norton Atlas looks awfully like the Kawasaki Versys 650?

So Oakmere want £350 for the service.

Krazy Horse say £240.

Bit of a difference.
