Ok guys, does anyone know how good these are? All I know is that it is some device to alter the fuel mapping. My bike is a bog standard 2003 1150GS. Is it woth having if it is cheap enough?

Techlusion box

I have just had the Techlusion box fitted to my 1150 52 model and I have to say there has been a large improvement. I had got rid of the cat and according to Jim Cray at Cray Eng. he said it was running very lean , as low as 0.3% ( it should be 1.5% ).Now it seems to be more powerful over the whole rev range but me fuel consumption has increased .The folks on this site will no doubt point you in the direction of many previous discussions on this subject in the archives.Overall tho' I'm chuffed to buggery.:beerjug: Paulus

Does the 259r work with the 1100's?

I've seen a couple of Techlusions for sale, one being the tf1 1030 which I know does work with the 1100.

Not certain, but I don't think so. The 1030 is the one for the 1100.

If your bike is completely bog standard (still got the cat, standard can, standard air filter) I'd be surprised if you need the chip. Most postings I've seen on here were about fitting the unit to correct lean running after fitting free-breathing after-market exhaust bits.

Hmm, looks like the same module but different connections, so would need to be GS1100 specific. Bugger, I'd seen one for the 1150 really cheap :(

My Rockster had a Y piece and Remus revolution fitted. The plugs looked like they were burning too lean for my liking. So, I bought a techlusion. It gives a nice boost throughout the rev range, especially at the lower end.:)

I willl get mine set up on a dyno to be 100% sure its now fuelling ok, but I dont want it dynoed untill Steptoe has serviced it and I know everything else is spot on first. :)

But, yes they do appear to be money well spent. I think they are about £180 from TTS performance or about £100-£120 ish secondhand.

I may have a Techlusion Tfi 1031 for sale soon depending on whether I buy a new bike or not. pm me if anyone is interested.

New bike? I thought this bike was your new bike? Going for a later one or jumping ship?

I've been looking at a few, 1150's and GSA's mainly ;)

Unfortunately or fortunately redundancy
is looming and with it perhaps a new toy :D

I bought the Tfi 1031 with this
in mind but if I stay in the job the 1100 stays and I wont be getting an 1150 etc.

Yes I do. Techlusion seem to insist on it. Otherwise the original program switches to a different map. BMW agents sometimes take out the cap to cure the surging problem thus allowing the lean running to be bypassed.
The Techlusion web site takes you through all the tech stuff. I tried to buy one from TTS last Nov but they could not supply as they had discontinued the agency. According to Techlusion they had not purchased any since 2003.
I bought mine direct from Techlusion and paid the import duty. In all it cost around £140 although the pound was stronger then.
Took about 1/2 hour to fit with the excellent instructions supplied (also on website).
If you get one start tuning as per the Techlusion settings. The setting you may see on this site after TTS have played with it seem to be for a non standard bike and this may be why the are a long way off Techlusions reccomendations.

Great information there Paul. Did you fit the Techlusion to an 1100 or 1150 and was it standard or modified? If it was a standard bike what improvements if any did you notice.

My 1100 is bog standard and the only reason I'd want to fit the Techlusion is perhaps to try to get rid of surging without having to remove the CCP.

Also what was model number was your unit Paul?

Hi John
Right- chapter and verse.
I have owned 3RTs - all with various fueling problems i.e.the dreaded surging. Once the reason was throttle balance problems due to the dealer not refitting the little rubber caps back onto the balancing tubes at the bottom of the throttle bodies. At least it shows they may have put it on there balancing test rig.
My current bike is a 02 1150GS (single plug) and completly standard.
Mileage is 8500 which is low -but thats another story.
The main problem I had with this bike was surging and after do a lot of searching I went for the Techlusime R259 which as they say is aimed at the BWM boxer engine. They do have selection of units dependant on cc and type of co connections - all explain on their site. This detail comes up when you get into buying screen.
Their settings DEPEND on catplug being in. Their kit adds fuel in 4 stages. If the cat code plug is removed the BMW magic box reverts to a richer mixture. I have read that some owners who have removed the plug have had early catalyser burn out! The addition of the Tech kit would only add more fuel to what could be a already rich mixture.
My surging problem was 1st or 2nd gear at speed up to 40mph with a closed or just a crack opened throttle. A real sod with two up in traffic! It was always tempting to go into a higher gear to move off that throttle position.
I set mine as per Techlusion figures with a digital multimeter with the engine running. The surging almost went but to completely avoid it I increased the cruise pot setting by 0.2v. Fuel consumption has not significantly altered since fitting.
Here endeth the message-sorry for going on.

This is my spark plug 40 miles after fitting the 259. Before it was fitted, the plug core was a bright white colour. I ran the bike w/o the 259 for a few hundred miles on new plugs. As you can see, it's a nice light brown colour now.
