Well i managed to get hold of a Techlusion r259 the a bargain price from ebay.
Just installed it today and set it up as per the settings shown on a thread on this forum for a remus can and y piece......... What a difference!
I was previously using the steptoe mod and this helped greatly with the surging issues I was having, but the Techlusion has made the bike silky smooth with no surging at all.
For anyone suffering from surging I would highly recommend one.

Got one in my R1100GS, it allows me to apply carburetor type adjustments to the bike (idle, needle and main jet type adjustments). I haven't got mine set quite as rich as the suggested settings.

This is where I ended up after a lot of seat of the pants tuning

Green pot - 2 o'clock - 0.33v
Yellow pot - 2 o'clock - 0.34v
Red pot - 2 o'clock - 0.24v
S (RPM - 4.03v (4500rpm) (rpm when red pot starts adding fuel)
Cat code plug - Pink (87-87a-30)
TPS voltage 3.63
Hall sensor = centred with drill bit in hole

I'm managing 180-200 miles from fuel light on to fuel light on.
