Guys,
Need some help from someone technical:
Background:
Ordered my GS some time ago (bloody ages!) and was happy to learn that it arrived in country about 4 weeks ago.
My issues is that as a disabled rider I need to have quite a lot of alterations done to make the bike rideable. My right hand is pretty buggered and I have an artificial left leg.
Therefore I normally have the following adaptions
1) Left hand throttle
2) Left hand thumb brake
3) Electronic Gear selection by left thumb
Effectively this means that everything is done by the left hand and right foot. If you are interested I attach some photos of my previous fazer. Its a bit of a buggers muddle - but the best anti theft device I know!
I got a phone call two weeks ago from the unnamed BMW dealer ( who had a agreed to supply the bike and do the adaptions ) saying that the conversion had been carried out with the exception of the Kliktronic gearshifter which was causing problems. They advised that they were going to send it over to Klicktronic themselves to get it sorted . All good.
I then get a phone call Friday to say that actually none of the work had been done and that they were flumoxed - but were going to ask the guys at Klicktronic for help.
normally I might lose my rag at having been mislead - but in the circumstances I am very aware that this is a bit of a challenge for a usual dealership and I am happy to keep my toys in the pram! - this is not a conversion I can do myself so am reliant on others goodwill.
The Problem:
Normally I would ask the NABD (top disabled bikers charity) for help - but the issues here are 1200 specific.
Talking to the guys at Kliktronic this morning the main issue seems to be the throttle. Instead of the usual two wire cable the 1200 only has one. Making it very difficult to reverse it and switch across to the left hand bar. Having never seen inside the GS throttle assembly ( and if I did I still would not understand it!) I take their word for it.
Do any of you more technical gurus have any ideas that might be a solution. The other issue is the CANBUs system on the switch gear - but think that might be reasonable
Any help would be greatly apreciated - feels like I'm a bout to fail at the final hurdle
Cheers
Mac
