Teeny Power Connector - Where from?

OK, I've searched the threads, phoned the local dealer (like that was ever going to help me!), followed the various leads - but I still can't find where I can get a little plug to fit that extra, teeny power point, just below the handle-bars on the GS12... You all know it, the one that provides power to the GPS...

So where can I get a plug for it??? (Without paying £68 for a BWM Navigator lead...).

Try Deamon tweeks for waterproof connectorery thingies, i have just used them for fitting some lamps. They come in two sizes 5amp and 20 amp, the only issue could be the pin shape. The tweeks plugs/sockets have round pins
i think they are square on the bm ( 1200 any way )

I have been on a quest for one of these. The situation is that the plug is made by AMP for BMW. I discovered that some but not all of the components to make the plug up were available however the key component although manufactured by AMP, is BMW specific and they won't sell it to anybody except BMW. So I have capitulated and purchased the BMW Navigator I power cable for a 1200GS, which is equipped with the correct plug and I have cut it and am going to solder and heatshrink the power cables to my Garmin and Autocomm to it and have a proper powering arrangement.

why cant you just cut off the power socket on the bike (the nav one) and attach a standard sort of connector to the bike, then just make up a lead to match this to power the GPS?

Or is it really awkward to get to the connector on the bike? Sorry, but havent looked at mine so i'm just sort of guessing suggestions. But it would seem to be a much cheaper way...

If you live in or near a biggish town... Look in the yellow pages for an electronics hobbiest supply store there... You know, the place where people who build dance-floor party lights, stereo components, ham radio gear, and other electronics stuff, get their components...

They'll most likely stock the DIN connectors. I'm suprised if Maplins doesn't...

Footloose and Themadprofessor - thanks - Don't you just love manufacturers... I did read that post before starting this one and started to bottle out when words link "soldering" and "tinned" started to get used. (and Ericthebrave) I'm not very good with delicate things and would not like to interfere with the loom...

Araspitfire - I'll give that a try as I do live in a big town (top of the Championship even!!) though most of the places here want to sell everything in plastic packs of 5 or 10...

Although I must say that pushing the bare wires into the holes of the socket connectors and lashing it together with insulating tape does have a wonderfully Heath-Robinson appeal to it...

Yes you could. However I am very anal and I did not want to cut into the loom in any way. I saw a GPS power socket which has three conductors. I just wanted to connect to it properly in a way which hopefully did not damage the bike in any way and was as waterproof as the socket manufacturer had originally intended.

Anyone want a cable for a Navigator I either bare ends or a BMW generic power plug for an accessory socket £20.00 (a bargain )

Not an advert I quickly add. I thought though that I could probably sell the left over Navigator I lead to someone who had 2 bikes and a Nav 1 and recoup some of my outlay. Hopefully Fleabay will be my oyster..........

Don't all do the same thing as me else the Fleabay market will be overstocked with second hand Navigator 1 cables !!!!

Is the Navigator I lead the same as the lead I need for a 2720?
