A couple of days ago I found that the bike would not start in gear when I pulled the clutch lever in.

Very annoying as I use this a LOT.

Have removed the switch but it's difficult to determine 100% whether it's a dud or not. I've figured out how the 2 switches are operated by the clutch lever for killing cruise control and feeding teh starter, but I can't fully understand the wiring connections. The lower, cruise control, runs in closwed position then kills the supply. The upper, start, runs open then provides the supply when clutch lever is pulled in.

I do have my theory of feed in and 2 outlets.

Has anyone met a failure of this little baby?

I know where to buy a new switch, but it's not cheap.

Those switches and the predecessor single switch are frequent points of failure. You can buy a replacement for the dual switch on Ali for a fraction of what BMW wants.
