Does anyone know where I can get a temperature gauge to fit the radiator of my 400 EXE? Just managed to cook my engine!!!. Must have picked up a stone up on the motorway and lost the water without realising.

Don't know of an official version, but there must be some form of temperature controlled alarm that could be bodged to fit. Some trials bikes have thermostat controled fans, one of those could be modded to switch on a warning light? How badly boiled is it? My 'Berg used to boil up in deep forestry ruts when there wasn't enough airflow to keep it cool (ie. I wasn't going fast enough!), five minutes rest and it was fine. Just top it up after the event. Did you not notice any steam escaping? I suppose on the road it would have been difficult.

Thanks Clive, you’re obviously feeling better. 
The bike had lost all its water and I must have been on the road for 10mins. I think the head gasket has gone, at least, as there is oil down the side of the engine,
and it was burning oil when I stopped.

Guys,
Just fitted a "Trailtech Vapor" to my Husaberg - great bit of kit.
Has RPM Bar-Graph display, Water Temp, Gear Shift Lamps (2 off), Overheat Warning Alarms (2 off), outside air temp, clock, total riding time (for service intervals) and the usual array of Trip functions.

Easy to fit, comes with model-specific fitting kits.

try this.
I used something called "WATER WETTER" sold by demon tweeks and motor racing boys and never had problems with overheating on either the ktm or the gasgas. for the gasser i also developed a little device called a cooltube which fitted in the rubber hose. It consisted of a 1" thick piece of ally bar with a 12mm bore down the middle this formed a pipe then cos the pipe is thick walled grooves were machined in at 1mm intervals this formed a heatsink. this device was fitted inline and transfered heat to the air. very good worked a treat and was an idea stolen and put into production by someone in derbyshire. heyho. They charge about £30 each and if you know anyone with a 3inch lathe could do it for less than a fiver.

Thanks for all your tips. I've bought a TrailTech with the in-line sensor. Let's hope I never see the red light!!
