Hey all, I'm trying to talk the boss into letting me get a GS (it's not looking good!), I have just found one for sale and would like to know if its a bargain??

It's a 2004 R1200 GS with 9k on the clock and comes with ABS, BMW heated grips, BMW alarm and immobiliser, BMW top box and panniers. Engine crash bars, Tank crash bars, Tank protectors, Separate fog lights. Touratech windscreen extender and vibration damper. Wunderlich fender protector. Clear indicator lenses.

The guy is asking for £6000! I know the bikes are quite expensive so is this the right sort of price (bearing in mind I can buy a car for that!)?

Cheers for the help

Nick

Nick,

You'll find that the rate of depreciation slows the older the bike gets, and providing the bike has been looked after, is in excellent condition with the service history and lots of goodies, it will hold its price fairly well ....

Bear in mind that the bike you mention is coming up to (or is) a 5 year old bike....

Check out bike trader , that will give you a better idea.. or if you become a subscriber it will allow you access to the For Sale and Wanted section on UKGSer... Thats where I'd head if I were looking for another GS ;)

PS Welcome to the site :thumb2

hi Bryn, sounds like a fair price to me , lots of extras and low milage , i shouldnt think youll find one much cheaper than that especially if you wait much longer as there WILL be more people looking for a ride:thumb
Dont ask if you can have a bike just go and buy it !!!!!!! argue later if you have to:eek::thumb
theyre a great do anything bike, good luck

Buy it

If its in excellent condition,go for it,you wont be disappointed, these adventure bikes are go anywhere fun........:Motomartin

I wouldn't pay a penny more for bits and pieces, only the OEM panniers/topbox are worthy of a bit of extra dosh in my book.

For 6k I'd want an 05 at least.

Happy hunting!!
