Hi chaps,

sorry for the delay but I've been doing one of my photo jobs & have been away for a few days!

Anyway today is the big day, yes in a few minutes time I'm off to the dealers to collect the new beastie. I've had my weetabix, so should be able to get my leg over (now, now, don't be smutty!). The only problem is, is that I need to go into work today, ride the bike home tonight then I'm down in London for two days, on another shoot. As I'm pannierless at the moment I'm forced to take the car! Oh well, at least I'll be back on Sunday morning to go for a ride and what's your betting that it'll be pissing down!

I'm looking forward to joining the dark side!

Now where's Gary Glitter left his boots!!!!

Regards

Reggie (short in leg & thick in't head).

As Mutley would say, "Razzum, Razzum, Razzum. Rotten rickedy rascal". :green gri :green gri :green gri

Hi Chaps,

thanks for all your comments etc. The bike was collected this morning and my first impressions are as follows;

by eck it's big!
It's tall.
It's very easy to ride and perfectly balanced (unlike the rider).
Loads of grunt.
Screen far superior to the F650 and I can ride at 70mph with my visor open.
70 also equates to the running in limit so that's not a chore.
Bastard indicator switch's!!!!

You could soon grow to love this bike.

So what do you suggest I buy to accessorise it, noting luggage is needed and sensible items to prevent wear and tear to the paint finishes etc.

Full comparison report between the F650 & the R1200GS will follow once I've got some miles done.

Regards

A very happy Reggie

Accessories?? Accessories???

Oooh, let me go first!! Now then, let's think:

Bigger wallet.
Map with petrol stations marked on.
Painful butt-pad to remind you of your old (and proper) bike.
Gym membership (to build up those "centre stand" muscles).

:grndevil :eyesdown

Enjoy it matey (but yer still a git!!).:P

Smoked Touratech screen, Ohlins front and rear (when available), H&B engine bars, full Remus system and BT020s. There, that enough to get you started? ;)

.

A Scottoiler :D

Meet up with you soon Reggie.:thumb

what about a gps, so you can walk round it without getting lost?

Nice one, PW!!

I'm babysitting an 1150 tonight, so following your sound advice, I've just gone out and given it a good, generous dose of chain lube all over that big, heavy black thing that's round about where the chain should be on a proper bike - should work, shouldn't it?
:D

What! Reggie riding a bike with 'sticky out things'! Whatever next?
now that is what you call a wide load were you posing for the camera or waiting for a police escort

Hi Cliff,

when we went around Norway I wanted to get the Norwegian version of WIDE LOAD markers but we didn't find a shop that sold them!

Who'd have thought a change to an R12GS would result in a narrower bike?

Regards

Reggie
