Looking to trade up from a 2012 GSA Triple Black to a 2017 GSA Triple black but the dealer has only offered £7400 trade in. At that price I can't make it work. If I was to sell privately what a realistic ball park figure for this?

2012 GSA Triple Black, 18k miles, FSH
Black tank panels and matt black painted panniers
smoked screen and winglets
Garmin 590LM GPS
Akrapovic End Can
Touratech comfort rider and pillion seat (not shown)
HID headlight and fog lights
locking toolbox inside right hand pannier space

Just curious if it's worth pursing this.

Thanks

Steve

Have you tried other dealers? As you say your figures arnt adding up. What figure will work? That's what you want so try it. JJH

September 2014 offered £6500 by dealer for a 2011 (11) plate 1200gsa tc non esa with full luggage and Maxton suspension and 11,000 miles against a 2014 gsa te model (£16,000) with panniers.
Kept the tc an extra year and ran them both together and still sold it for over £7500.
last year was in a dealer and a lad had just bought a used 64 plate gsa te for over £12,000 he part exed an fully specced up sub 5000 miles anniversary edition gsa tc and got below £6000.
Sell privately or take the part ex minus all the extras including panniers and shift them privately

Hi

I know they are in business, but some of the part ex prices are so low it best be costing them sales.

A friend wanted a new BMW but got a Triumph instead, mainly based on the fact they offered over a grand more in part ex.

I assume they believe they are on the crest of a sales boom with the new bikes and can behave accordingly.

I was offered just recently £6K. on 2012 GSA with luggage etc and 24k miles On a part ex for a XR. Decided to keep it in the end when I saw they were selling a similar bike for £10k!

I think the dealers are swamped with PCP bikes coming through so the value of a private bike is taking the hit now. Private sale would get you £1000 - £1500 more surely ?

Ditto.
I have an October 2013 GSA with all the farkles on that BMW were giving away to get rid of the last few twin cams, plus one or two other bits I've added myself. The bike has done 13,000 miles, has a full dealer history and is in excellent condition (as you'd expect for a bike of that age and mileage). I was offered £8k for her against the price of a brand new K16 GTLE.
I was lucky though as the sales manager made it clear that he was doing me a favour by offering so much as he'd struggle to make £200 profit out of my bike when he sold it for £10k. I felt terrible walking away from the deal knowing just how hard he'd tried.

I detect a hint of sarcasm....:D

One of the reasons I sold my RT recently was the impending flood of pcp bikes onto the market pushing down prices. Paid £6500 in december 2011, sold it for £4300 this month. Forty quid a month depreciation..... happy:thumb

The OP's Triple Black is a peach, if he advertises it for sale, it'll be snapped up.

Was the bike delivered with black side panels or were they aftermarket / painted ?

My triple black has silver colour and I prefer yours !

August 2014 my 2012 GSA 18000 miles with full luggage and service history, trade in was £9500 against an ex bmw management Nov 14 GSA TE.
Hope this helps.

I have just sold my GSA Triple Black 2013 7k miles on commission via the dealer. I lost £1300 from new over 3 years. I also was worried by plunging residuals caused by end of PCP deals flooding back in so I baled from the bike. I love BMW bikes but how much would I lose if I took on a £16k - £17k R1200 GS LC, so I'm unlikely to risk it again. I'm sticking with my R100r, two carbs and some pushrods, no computers, fuel pumps, fuel gauges and no paint to fall off the engine. :-)

:bow £1300 loss in 3 years ? How ? Seriously. Was it on a PCP or bought outright. My 63 plate TB GSA was c£14k new. I'd be lucky to get £9500 for it, oh how I'd love to get £12,700

How about a bike sale agent? These guys are probably no help being in Devon, but there must be others. They sell your bike and take a fixed percentage commission plus storage fees if you leave it with them. Or they could arrange the sale and you would hold the bike in your garage.
