I’d like to take my son on a “mini” NC500 route this summer. I’m looking for a roomy tent which will pack onto the GS. I’m thinking 3/4 man so we have some space inside. What have you got? Based in Worcestershire and happy to travel/ meet halfway for the right kit.

Thanks for the replies- I don’t want to spend a fortune but it simply needs to be up to the job of keeping us dry for the 5/6 day trip. It’ll be his first time doing anything like this, which is why I was looking for something pre-owned which could be lobbed onto Facebook marketplace or put back on here if it’s a non- starter. I’ve seen loads on eBay but I’m utterly lost with all the models and brands.
Is £150 realistic for a 2/3 season tent, second hand?

You only need to read all the “What is best, mate” on any topic, to realise that.

Yes, it’s realistic, possibly. But don’t write off much cheaper tents, especially when Halfords, GoOutdoors and the like have sales on, all but permanently. What to avoid? I’d guess the pop-up tents, unless you are a feckless youth, attending Reading…

PS If in doubt, look at the pictures of any UKGSer camping event or any bikermate rally. You’ll soon realise that every man and his dog has their opinion of which tent is best.

This any good?

Good spot- I did reply to that one already but unfortunately for me he is in Australia until mid August. I was planning the trip for e/o July, the timings are a shame as it looked ideal.

I can even drop it off today too.
Now that’s an offer I wouldn’t refuse :clap.
Sounds as though OP is sorted and ready to go. :thumb

Well done Anthony.

Close the thread, I say.

It’s a very kind offer but the lad is so clumsy he can trip over in bed. I wouldn’t relax. Thank you though. If it were just me I’d be all offer such a generous gesture.

Anyone who knows about such things got a view on this one? I know the Marmot brand from having some clothing of theirs but no idea on tents? IMG_8857.jpg

Well you won’t lose it in the snow! It’s a tad bright. :D
I will say though that if it’s pissing down ( highly likely in Scotland ) there’s hardly any sort of porch area so you’ll be clambering back in wet and soaking everything inside. If you get one with a bigger porch you’ll also have somewhere to cook / boil the kettle etc…..

It’s also not very big. Especially for 2 people.
Ideally you should be looking for a 3 man tent if you want some room inside.
