tents

a mine of information, thanks all, sure ill find summat now:thumb2:thumb2

Lots of good info here...
Thinking about the phad and mountain leisure - are they easy/quick to pitch?
I have memories of spending 30-40 minutes pitching my old tents, though they were 8 man tents!

I'd be looking for a tent that is waterproof, at least 2-man, a porch area to leave boots etc, quick and easy to pitch and packs away small enough to carry on a bike

Phad 3 is very easy to put up.
The porch is big enough for boots and TT panniers and has a zip in groundsheet.
I have not put my Mountain Equiment Refuge 3 up yet.

What? Not even in the living room? :nenau

After a quick inspection (failed) of my 15yr old Millets job in the garage last weekend, did a bit of research and the Coleman Phad X3 (previously called the Quartz 3 I think) looks to tick the boxes for me. Reasonable price, roomy enough for 2 when required and luxury for 1 when not, compact enough for the bike and good storage in the porch to hide away panniers etc when staying a few days in one place:thumb

Thats a good price and their a great tent. Here's my Quartz 3 at Lands End, sleep length ways, head by the door which is nice in the morning.

I took four of these to Norway, you don't need a bike to put them up, you can tie to a tree, fence etc, etc. They are Khyam pocket single tents, no poles at all, double skinned so no condensation, a nice window in the top so you can see the rain. I think they are around two kilos and pack up as small as a decent down s/bag. Not sure if they still make them but I still have four and might be tempted to sell two for £30+ postage each.
