Hi All,

Been hankering after one for a while. i spend most of my time on the motorway as my GF lives in the ardennes and 12k a year mileage just on motorways and N roads makes me feel i want a bit of comfort. Thats without the trips there in the car.

I'm on my third GSA and i do love it but not doing any really twisty stuff and just using it as a tourer so im trying to use my head.

Current GSA is 17 months old and have been offered 2 very good deals on RT SE's, both under 700 miles a grey one and a midnight blue one.

I guess i will see tomorrow, have ridden the K1600 and just found cornering a bit weird after the GSA so hoping the RT will be sort of in the middle.

One thing guys what sort of MPG are you getting

MPG will be better by about 5 MPG, the RT is a great bike.

I have had an RT twice now as a courtesy bike c/o NOG whilst my GSA has been in for servicing etc.

I too found it a little strange when cornering, in as much as it felt as if the front wheel was going to tuck under when initially put into the corner. I got used to it after a while as it tipped into the corner quicker.

As I recall someone at NOG said it might be differing wheel sizes which affected it.

A good bike though and once used to the feeling it was fine.

I'm averaging 50.52mpg on my 2005 RT with 13k on the clock.

3k of those miles have been mine. Still bonding with her after moving up from a Divvy. Fall more and more in love with her every day mind and starting to find her easier to flick about. Good luck.

According to the MPG meter I’m getting around 55mpg, and I won’t argue with that.

If I was looking for another RT I’d want…

Cruise control
Heated grips
Heated seat
Chrome headers
Bike BC computer

Maybe try and get a deal on a Motorad Garmin Satnav, don’t know what BMW call it but its black and has extra buttons. Get the 49ltr top box (keyed to the bike) as part of the bike deal and push for about half price (I did)!!! Ask for a second metal key as spare if you’re only going to get a plastic one.

Currently getting 56.8 mpg according to the dash readout. That's over about 1000 miles since I last zeroed the setting. And I do give her big handfuls but don't really rev her much above 4000 rpm as there is no need.

both bikes are SE so come with the above, one has a satnav and back box but i have a 660 already and they are dropping £1300 on the price and they can keep the box and sat nav.

I have 2k worth of extras on my GSA so will sell them and gets some bits

Consider the K1300GT SE. It will give you the same fuel, mid 50's, but is better motorway cruiser with far better lighting. Had both, GT wins.

I traded my Hayabusa in for the RT SE (got tired of everything being a target that must be overtaken). I have covered over 3500 miles now from new. Mostly travel 2 up with he in doors and average around 50mpg. I miss the power of the Busa but nothing else. The RT ticks all the boxes for me and the load carrying capacity is immense. Try and get the 49 litre top box thrown in with the deal and if you do a lot of motorway miles, cruise control is a option that is well worth having. I know, I know, but until you have tried it.

Test rode it this morning and to be honest i was shocked how much better it was than the K1600 i have ridden before, not the engine of course, but much lighter and handled pretty good, i got it over quite far in the corners, after being told to take it easy as it can take a while to get used to the handling ) of course it's not like my GSA but..............

I took it round some roads i new, through some of the little villages and then on to the A3, where it was a pleasure, that cruise control is awesome.

Electric screen was good but it will need some fine tuning, heated seats, heated grips and ESA as you would expect. No music package thing

For me it will need and end can to just get a bit of noise and maybe a wee bit more grunt.

The bike had a non colour coded top box and sat nav, but my deal was without them as i have a 660 anyway, they are leaving the satnav bar and installing my satnav for me and the first service to be thrown in, the bike has only done 326miles, the original Owner has fallen very ill. this colour is blue metallic and a £560 extra option, with the top box and sat nav the guy paid just under 16k 4 months ago.

I am very happy with the deal i got to change my 12k 17 month old GSA which had been on it's side ( blew over in France )

This weekend i will be striping my GSA of the 2k's worth of extras,

I’m not clear if you’re getting the topbox or not LBL but if you do, consider getting the lid sprayed to match, it took me a while to get it done, I actually had it done at the same time as a badly scuffed pannier lid, it looks way better now.

Did that little string on the pannier lid come off and the lid crash on the road Bugger..... just like mine...so take care when opening guys and don't assume that cord is still attached

The RT group on here seems to be increasing daily

First thing to buy is a pair of retention wires for the mirrors! Very expensive when you hit a pothole and watch a mirror bounce down the road!

Had a nice long test ride on an 2011 RT SE yesterday and once I'd mastered the differences between the RT and my GS I was more than impressed, in fact so impressed that I ordered a new SE there and then.
I've never taken my GS off road, I don't hammer the twisties anymore and as most of my trips seem to involve long motorway rides the RT is the perfect choice.

When i had my rt i found that handling was very much affected by tyre pressures, far mor so than on the gsa, rt's good bikes , do everything very well but i found a little bland compared to the gsa. Enjoy.

Had a K1300 GT SE from Park lane wankers in London. It vibrated like a sex toy from new, they tried to fix it and made it worse, BUT had it not vibrated so badly, and had Park Lanes (London) service not been so abysmally and unbelievably horrendously shockingly bad i would still have it (probably) Get the taller screen if you do get one though, oh and make sure when you get it that its taxed (unlike mine... I noticed they couldnt even be BOTHERED to stick the tax disc on about ten miles away from bloody Park Lane. Oh and dont use setting 2 on the heated grips , as its just TOO HOT, but it might be different in minus temperatures.
