Well I finally got round to taking a test ride this morning on a RS and RT back to back.

Both excellent bikes and all the speed I'd ever need, especially the RS as it gets there so quick and without fuss.
However at motorway speeds the RT is deceptively quick as you don't notice the speed creeping up at the limit.

Handling was excellent on the RS and so easy to ride, eventually got used to the clutchless change but still feels a bit unatural to me.
The RS had no particular issues and is everthing a modern bike should be but it's just perhaps too good at being a moden bike it doesn't give you much sence of the occasion.

The RT on the otherhand was all the occasion you'd ever need.

The RT I rode was only 20 miles old and it felt really tight and a bit more vibey than the RT but I would imagine this would settle with some miles.

The electic screen was brilliant and settled in a position that offered low noise and no buffetting.
It's a big bike but carries it's weight so well, the bike felt so right it was like an old glove.

Just need to get rid of the 1150GS and an airhead or two and I'm read to part with "How much" ah wll it's only money :)

I agree.

Had my RTLC for almost two years now. And it just gets better and better with the miles 13k to date.
It just does everything brilliantly. luxurious on that two-up continental tour, then great fun in the twisties when you get there.

OK, its an RT, its not a show-off-at-the bike-meet sexy bike. But IMHO its peerless at what it does.

Yes, i tried the RS too. its good and a bit more sporty. But the RT really is the one.

Hi Paul, I bought an RT 1200 LC at the weekend, you will not regret it my friend, a fantastic bike.

Hi Andy, welcome back.

Congrats on the new bike, I'm just a little jealous :)

I sorted out the rear shock on my GS this month and it's back to where it should have been so can't warrant a new bike just yet but it will be my next bike.

Got to get rid of a few airhead too.

I've been meaning to come over to Aberaeron for a bag of chips, been far too long.

I'm loving the new RT, but only had current bike 2 years (899 Ducati) so feel I should keep it a min of 3 before changing (after 10 years of sportsbikes). Saying that, I'm changing the first chance I get to a nice shiny new RT (about £9K in current bike, or £8K trade).

Reckon I wont be any slower on an RT (maybe a bit slower filtering), as it handles really well.

RBW.

Sounds like a plan, just let me know if you do.

missed your post, did Mac run yesterday bit wet but nice and quiet.

Did Cardiff, Epynt, Newbridge on Wye, Rhyader, Staylittle, Dylife, Mac, Talybont, Nant y Moch, Devils, Llandewi Brefi, Llandovery and home. 235 wet miles in all but good but bloody slippery. Stopped for a broken down scooter in the lanes with a snapped LT wire. Got him going so good deed for the day.

The climb up the mountain from Talybont towards Nant y Moch was interesting, had a few clench moments go up there.

Might try and ride over next weekend if your about

Maybe going up the peak district for the weekend, so probably not, let you know if anything changes.
