Hi Everyone

The other half and I having had a brief ride on a new 1200GS recently would like to have a much longer test ride so that we can make a decision as to whether this should be our new bike.

We are in the midlands but don't mind travelling for good service.

We ideally would like to be able to test ride one for 2hrs - 1/2 day.

Is that possible even?

Dealer recommendations welcome.

Cheers

Hi Joolz,
Ocean BMW in Plymouth. If you come back with the bike within 2 hours they will send you back out again! It needs at least that long to get a true feel for it.

I'd recommend speaking to the guys at rainbow in Rotherham, went there after 2 other dealerships and found them far and away the best to deal with.

Give them a call and let them know you need it for a half day and I'm sure they'll accommodate - they did for me :). All of the guys there are good, but if you have any issues organising it see if you can get hold of Dave the showroom manager.

Best of luck

Allan Jefferies in Shipley, West Yorks gave me a 24 hour test ride on their demo 1200 Adventure.

It was a good move on their part cos I then bought one!

Southport Superbikes. We tried the GS and RT with the offer that we could take one home (60 miles away) and bring it back the next day if that would help us to decide. The RT reminded us of a hippopotamus. The GS needed about 100 yards to feel good.

Long Demo Ride

Rainbow are good and they are organising escorted demo rides if pre booked, not to keep an eye on you but to enable customers not from the area to have a decent ride on some good local roads, routes used for these are about 100 miles.
Give them a ring either way as you will get a decent time out on the bike, unlike some dealerships

BVM

Try BVM at Stroud, they had a test 1200. Clarkes at South Birmingham didn't want to know me but others have had succcess there.

Ring round, always worth a try.

Bristol Motorrad

Bristol Motorrad will give you the bike for 1/2 a day or even a whole day if you ask. With just a short hop over to Wales and all the roads you need to test the all round ability of the GS. They even gave me £20 to put petrol in. Of course I bought the GSA and have been very happy with their after service aswell:clap:clap

These guys really are the tops, even having a dealer in Peterborough I still preferred to travel to Northampton, not only is the service you get briliant but they are really competative when it comes to prices, I`d definatley give them a ring, I`m sure you won`t be dissapointed. Good luck anyway.......:thumb

Thanks everyone

Thanks for all recommends.

It looks like Wollaston will be first port of call.

How are their post sales care - quality of servicing etc?

Cheers :beerjug:

Wollaston:thumb2

4 bikes, lots of services,

never been left without a bike, never had a problem with a warrenty claim ( and there have been quite a few) reasonable prices. Everything you need from a dealer.

I travel 70 miles each way to Wollastons even though I have a dealer in Braintree ( no names but you can figure it out)15 minutes away.
