Test riding my ultimate GS

Well my ultimate GS anyway.
I don't think I can really improve on this bike....and some would say it's a credit

2005 1150ADV SE with only 13k miles on the clock
21" front wheel
Uprated Ohlins
Servo/abs removed
Corbin seat
etc etc etc..more bling than you can shake a stick at but much of it useful to create for me, a tool for the job.

Why didn't BMW give an option for a 21" wheel
The steering is now superb offroad (for a GS)

First time I've seen a GS with a 21" front looks like it should have always came with one

A bit of a daft question here but what the advantage of a 21" wheel off road, is it just it rolls over the bumps better, being a larger circumference and all that ?

I'd forgotten how little controlled damping there is with standard shocks, the Ohlins do make a real difference, a bit less of the typical GS tendancy to skip and lose traction on rocky surfaces.

There's something rewarding about taking your heavy bike somewhere alone where a fall and injury could result in the mumblings of the 'sensible'

If I can get that bike across Mongolia then a dream will have been fulfilled

Well probably my shortest and most self indulgent ride report ever and the thing is........ I just know that my Africa Twin in standard form is a better bike for my trip this year

But an AT just doesn't give me the same hard on

A bit of info here regarding the front wheel Andy http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=174982

I doubt it'll look the same in six months time

There's also plenty of home made modifications such as my own version of TT steering stop 'hard parts' made from bits of old knobbly tyre and a rear drive breather extended to vent under the seat.

Stick with the GS, you may need some help with that at your age
