Had some spare time today so popped into my local BM dealer and blagged an hour or two on the new WC, what a mistake to make, I so want one now :blast

I am very pleased with mine. It is a 2014, and took me a while before I liked it as much as my old 2011 GS, but now there is no going back. The only weak area, the clunky gearbox, has either got better with the miles, or I have got better at changing gear. The rest of the bike I have loved from day one. Go for it.

You could always spend 10 minutes on here reading the numerous reports on how the corrosion starts shortly after you lose sight of the showroom ! Nice bikes let down by a very poor finish and numerous dealers who don't give a shit because they know the lemmings will keep on coming.

Just bought one :-)

But not collected yet. Ex Demo, from Bahnstormers in Maidenhead. Just waiting on a paint job before picking it up (didn't like the standard colours so it's going to be Black metallic.

I test rode one myself after they came out last year, and decided I'd end up with one when the time/cost was right for me. It'll be a sad day when I put the old 1150GSA up for sale, but a new bike will keep me smiling!

The engine paint on mine is still fine after 2 years, and about 1000% better than my previous Ducati was. I don't ride it much during salt season, though.

Two reasons to buy a GS over an RS or XR: I ride crazy bumpy roads that require long travel front suspension, and I like the legroom and ground clearance from the taller bike.

Dangerous thing to do that, and they get better when they loosen up Go for it you won't be disappointed :beerjug:

You can always rely on one of the usual suspects (who has never owned one) to chip in with their "wisdom" :D

Stick some orange paint on one and that ghastly tosspot Arsey would be salivating and foaming at the mouth like a love struck poodle with rabies. :thumb

Did 150 miles on Saturday on mixed roads on my 2014 gsa lc, suspension is still overly firm and doesn't like poor road surfaces, the bike is only really happy when being thrashed and dislikes being run at lower speeds and needs revs to thrive. The box is far from slick and the electronics are excessive it seems to have been designed to please you when you thrash it on a test ride and then buy one.
Now went out today on my 2011 r1200gsa tc (15,000 miles on the clock) and did 180 miles out over Alston into the lakes and back via Nenthead and Weardale, despite bad weather and the temps dropping down to 2 degrees over Alston the weather dried up on the way back.
Now I know on paper the lc is more powerful and has more torque but sticking to the speed limits the older bike is far nicer to ride it FEELS more powerful , it is more planted on the road especially on poorly surfaced roads and at legal speeds just feels like a much more competent and developed bike.
I just can't help getting the feeling when haven ridden the lc that BMW have gone too far in attempting to compete with ktm and give it more power, make it feel sportier and give it more electronic fancies rather than making it a better real world bike than the older 1200 tc model.
Still think that I may end up with keeping the yellow one and binning the blue

Ignore arsey he's jealous go for it im on my second wc no problems with paint or gearbox!

Hi Neil, I'm far from being an expert, but the 2 dealers bikes I tried the GSA from didn't run poorly at low speed, in fact one of the main reasons I am loath to part with my (light flywheel) 2013/14 model GS WC is i didn't particularly like the smoothed out damped effect of the heavier flywheel engines, sorta takes the urgency out of the engine..
So, maybe yours is not running correctly & maybe needs setting up at the dealers..

I'd say there's something seriously wrong with your bike, Neil, as my 2015 has none of those traits. Get it back to your dealer, pronto.:rob

No my bike was back to bmw for a full 7 weeks and there is apparently absolutely nothing the matter with it now.

Neither it nor the 3 other 2014 gsa lc's and the one 2015 gsa lc I have ridden have been as nice to ride at sensible road speeds as my older gsa tc

Get rid of it then :rob:nenau

New bike - Very Happy

Just a further update from my last post on this thread chaps..... Please see my new steed! As mentioned, it was a white GSA, now metallic black, but when the sun catches it, the pearlescent red really comes through.

I'm no expert on the newer bikes - indeed, the air cooled 1200GSA never really appealed to me as I loved my 1150GSA so much, and never felt that I could justify the expense of changing bikes as "to me" I didn't feel BMW had moved the game on far enough to do so. But this bike...... it's something else entirely. I've only done a couple of hundred miles since picking it up last Friday, but so far I'm still grinning from ear to ear. It's fast, comfy, full of electrickery (which could be a good/bad thing, only time will tell!) and the paint job sets it off nicely. It might not be everyone's cup of char, but I like it!
