Tested the GSA Cylinder protectors

Went out for a quiet run in Derbyshire yesterday and ended up at the little ford at Wetton Mill.

Cars in front so stopped before going through and thought must take it easy as it is usually very slippery. Cars cleared it and set off at a slow walking pace in first gear using a constant throttle. Half way through the back wheel overtakes the front and down goes the bike :eek:

Impressed walkers by picking up the bike all on my own.

Thankfully no damage except to my pride and the cylinder protector (tiny mark on the engine bar).

Will take the the bridge next time :o

My goodness, I'm surprised to see them standing up too that abuse. According to those knowledgable ones on Adventure Rider, all the crash bars and cylinder protecters, collapse and rip of at little more than walking pace. :D


Glad that's all that has happened as a result :thumb
 
That's impossible, that shouldn't have happened, bike should only have one cylinder by know, I think you should complain, tho', that the cylinder protector got scratched when you dropped it. Very shoddy workmanship :D

It must have been the cushioning effect of the water and green slime that saved me - there is of course no way that a 1200GS could have survived being dropped otherwise :rolleyes:

Not only "collapse and rip off" but according to reports also break off the weak protruding mounting studs so that the whole cylinder head needs replacing!! Some US dealers are refusing to fit them and recommending the HP2 ones... not too sure how they are better as must use the same mounting points I guess? Maybe more flexible and forgiving? :eek: :( :eek:

Maybe somebody telling porkies cause they don't want to pay for the repairs of the spill, blaming the machines ineptitude rather than themselves. Especially in this day in age of blame culture, and sue,sue,sue, it couldn't possibly my fault, good ol US of A , which has unfortunately spread to here now too. I had some one enter into discussion with me on ADV rider, who swore he just dropped the machine, and the crash bars collapsed totally and the cylinder guard was totally ripped off man. WTF, I just give him the old Norn Iron answer for I don't believe you, 'I dead on'... :D
