TFT anti theft

.....doesn't slow down people who steal to order and who come prepared

Yep, they will come with a van and lift your bike off. In which case no security will work. However the screen can come off in 3 second. Yep, you can just pull it off. Hopefully the opportunistic thief would go for a bike without the the screen protector and living mine alone.

Touratech for me, came quick (via eBay store) £42.50. Expensive but seems good quality and I like the look and fit.

Bought after I needed to park in Soho for the day and spent the whole day shitting myself someone was going to nick the TFT - I knew I was going out for a meal until 10pm so it wasn’t just ‘daytime’.

By co-incidence, chatted to a chap with a BMW Scooter outside my office who’d

had a TFT - he’d had his nicked 2 weeks earlier…..I didnt really enjoy my dinner…

Anyway - all fitted now and feeling better about it :)

Looks good quality - I contacted Cymarc and they said they supply foam to fit on the inside to prevent the metal rubbing against the TFT screen. Is the Touratech one the same does it need foam to prevent rubbing against the TFT screen.

I have the Cymarc protector with the shade. Had to rub it down and sent it for blasting and powder coat due to bad finish. Fortunately it went in as part of a batch I was having done so not overly expensive. But shouldn't need to do it in the first place.

Does any one know if the Touratech one needs foam around the edge to protect the TFT screen?

Thanks

slightly off topic. My friend has returned to her citroen c1 tonight having parked it for the day in a well used street in digbeth ,birmingham to do a shift at work to find the bonnet , both front wings, bumper radiator stolen and radio and dash controls too. The police have told her its not uncommon for this to happen of late. If the cheeky buggers are brazen enough to do this in daylight in a busy street theyre certainly not bothered about nicking your tft / whole bike....and relax!

Yes Cymarc quality control is very poor. They are not cheap either. I won’t be buying anymore of their stuff until they up their game.

Agreed...

My last bike I bought TWO sets of footpeg lowering kits from him

BOTH bent inwards.....I sent pics etc proving the bike hadn't been dropped etc but he swore it was impossible. One set I hadn't even gone off road so never stood up on the pegs and I'm not that fricking fat.

I will never buy from them again

Sorry DazGS - I can’t recall what it had on the back (facing the screen). However, I’m fairly sure I wouldn’t have fitted it if it was pure metal against the screen…

No problem - i agree it would need some foam of sort to protect the TFT.

Has anyone got a Touratech TFT security bracket fitted and also been able to fit a screen brace? I’m looking at either a Cymarc or Puig one but neither company can tell me before purchase of the brackets fits with a TFT Touratech security bracket…

I have Cymarc security bracket with shade and Cymarc screen braces and it all fits no problem.

I had a few Cymarc items on my GSA. The front engine protector was very good, the tool box and rear ‘mudflap’ thing that went behind the rear numberplate was at best overpriced rubbish. The toolbox wasn’t water tight, the first bracket supplied broke and the hinges are plastic. The ‘mudflap’ thing has a full size heavy steel plate behind the numberplate but the bit that was supposed to stop the spray from the rear tyre was very small & didn’t work. The recycled plastic paint roller tray on my GS looks & works far better. Would I buy from them again, no, there are better and/or cheaper alternatives.

Yeah, Mike at Cymarc said their TFT bracket was designed to fit with their screen brace. Unfortunately neither he nor Puig can advise if their products fits with the Touratech TFT bracket.

Touratech have confirmed their screen brace fits with their TFT security bracket. Only downside, the brace is double the cost of the Cymarc or Puig one!
