I have read the other posts but I just find it astonishing that BMW can you sell you a new GSA with the TFT screen which they tell you is a must have and then for the customer find out that the communication system and BMW Navigator they sell you doesn’t actually all work together.

They get us to buy in. I could sort of understand if I was trying to connect no genuine accessories.

It’s my fourth GSA, and this new one is so smooth compared to my 15 plate, but I am irraitated that they can do this and not actually have a fix.

Maybe it’s me being unreasonable!

I chopped my year old GSA Triple black for my new Rallye just to have the TFT. Its fantastic.
The Nav is connected through hard wire and controlled via the selection wheel. The TFT connects to my phone and Headset. Music, Phone and Bike to bike. All work brilliantly. Im not sure what it is you are wanting ?

Communicator is system 6, Navigator 5.

Firstly How on earth do you get the navigator to give spoken instructions and secondly talk to a passenger with the same communicator. If you can tell me you do a better job than my dealer.

It all works great with the phone connected to the TFT. The nav functions fine on the wheel. Get the nav to talk to you and speak to your passenger doesn’t. Maybe I am asking too much:augie

BMW make it clear. It's either or. Meaning that you can't connect to both. Either through the NAV or TFT. I guess the reasoning behind this is that BMW will eventually phase out the stand alone NAV & have the full navigation through the TFT display. I've never had voice prompts through the NAV as that would drive me insane. So it's not an issue for me. Cutting the NAV out and using the TFT navigation you do get voice directions.

You can have your cake and eat it........but not with a system 6. You need one of the newer Sena’s. It’s to do with the amount of BT profiles the headset can manage.

I have full functionality of the TFT and GPS voice commands from the Nav 6. It’s been pretty seamless from day 1. My only gripe is passing music from my iPhone through the TFT must compress the files slightly reducing the volume.

And that is a bad thing? Perfect excuse not to listen to your wife jabbering away in your ear and listen to the dulcet tones of the satnav lady (who I happen to know has big tits and is very accommodating). What more can you want? In any case, if BMW had said that the TFT screen had no connectivity at all, you still would have bought it for the display alone. For the first time in years I know what speed I'm doing on my GSA. The fact that the TFT screen gives the bike an additional level of connectivity that the old bike hasnt got is a bonus

No they don't. And you can only do that if you unpair from the TFT, pair to the Nav, unpair and reconnect to the TFT. Bit of a pain at 70 mph.

I had to sell my scala and but the sena 20S Evo for it all to work.....
And it does. Bluetooth 4.1

Thanks - I just bought a Scala Packtalk but it doesn't work so have order a 20s Evo

It was made clear to me by my dealership.
The 20 s evo is 4.1 Bluetooth so it will work fine.
Talaris. You get voice notifications direct from the navigation in the TFT.
Not sure what your going on about ?

Software innit - its just the way it is, get used to it :)

Software testing is an enormous task, we have an entire department dedicated to software testing and bugs still get missed - time to market takes precedence so that you can stay ahead of the competition - bugs get fixed later (if ever).

Not with System 6 or 7 you don't.

You cannot talk to a passenger either.

The Rider cannot listen to music when a passenger is connected.

My point is this - none of it should happen. It should all work seamlessly which you would expect for a £20k bike. Connect up and job done. Why should it make my two year old System 6 helmets (£1200) and comms redundant - I would get that if the System 7 works but it is the same as above. Now I have to get a Sena at £500 for two.

I also get the fact that Nav may come through the TFT in the future but it doesn't now and they sell you a 6 and in any event do you really want the basic Nav that you get when you have paid for a Navigator?

Just a bit annoyed but maybe I shouldn't be

My TFT is perfect.

I don't need to be distracted.

I ride the bike to escape phones.

Whoever it is, they can wait.

The thought of taking a call whilst on the M25 makes me shake my head...

Agree with above. I have the TFT, and love it, i dont have it connected to anything as i dont want to take phone calls on the bike.
A question though if i may, if the TFT is connected to my phone, does the nav get live traffic updates? I sat in heavy traffic this week with nothing showing on the nav.

Exactly

Fuck'em - who answers the phone and talks to callers whilst riding a GS ?

Riding a bike is about freedom from all that shite - your own space and thoughts

I don't play music either or have the gps banging in my ear
