Hi all,

My 1250 GSA is due to have it's battery replaced soon because of a known issue with the battery that can cause starting issues. Recently I've found that if I leave the bike overnight, when I switch it on it has forgotten my iPhone and I have pair it again from scratch. Never used to happen and the software on the dash is I believe the latest.

I'd have thought if it was the battery other stuff within the TFT would have reset like my changing it to 24 hour clock mode etc but they have all remained. I've tried it with my wifes iPhone and it also loses that too. It acts like it has no paired devices. If I pair it, ride it everything works fine. If I stop the bike for a few hours and then start it reconnects just fine but the next day, it's gone again.

I'm gonna assume it's the battery until it's been replaced and ask Williams to look at it but just wondered if anyone has had the same issue?

Peejay, This sounds like an IOS permission setting.

Hi, I'm already a part of that group, but this isn't permissions related, for a device to keep bluetooth connectivity it just needs to be paired, which it is, but the TFT dash is refusing to acknowledge it's been paired after being sat for a day. But I'll post on there anyway just in case, thanks :)

On your phone.
There have been issues with the battery on adaptive that it disconnects BT and WiFi connections.

There's no adaptive battery option on the iPhone, there is an optimised charging option but thats only used when charging the phone up. The phone doesn't disconnect from the TFT dash, once it's paired it works just fine, until the next day. The phone has still remembered it's paired, but the dash acts as though there are no paired devices.

OK, I see you have started a thread on the Facebook group, David Mays who has answered you is the Guru, he made the Video Pinned at the top. so you're in good hands there.
Good luck, I hope you get it sorted.
Just for Info.My set up, works perfect, every time.

Thanks mate! Yeah mine was working flawlessly until recently, no headset, just the phone. Very odd but hopefully fixable!

what software version do you have peejay , take your pick

2018 001_18_040
2019 001_19_180
2020 021_004_040

on the 2019 version the bluetooth used to pair quite quickly and hold, but occasionally, and it was usually when refuelling , as if the keyless petrol cap was the issue , it would drop the signal and you had to re-pair. The 2020 version is suppose to stop the drop outs. As mentioned above in a post, for some reason it connects better with samsungs as opposed to iPhone ! yet the original software was based around ISO !

Good luck

Mine the 2019 software which is unsurprising as I doubt Williams have updated the dash. I'll ask them to update it and hope for the best but it's odd the firmware version hasn't altered and it's only just become an issue.

Mine got updated at the dealership last week and has started doing precisely the same thing for the first time in two years of ownership!

Mine did it yesterday.Phone paired ok as did everything else. Then second time round phone would not pair.Pain in the ass

Mine has done this since day one and had multiple firmware updates.

The one good thing is that I usually only have to re-pair them from the TFT side as the phone and or comms remember the pairing.

Yes but it shouldn't happen.I have not had mine updated but obviously doesn't help.

Mine's going in on the 16th for a battery replacement and a firmware upgrade. But I have little hope it'll fix it. I work in IT and have to mess around with bluetooth alot so I know it can be flaky at times, and honestly I'm not complaining about the odd "blip" here or there, but the TFT should reliably remember it's pairings, if it can't do that then I shall be insisting on taking it further. Bluetooth pairing isn't hard to get right, it's not like it's new tech either lol

I know some people will think I'm being pedantic about it, and I agree that this connectivity isn't a must have on a bike, but I chose the 1250 partly for it's gizmos, one of which being the ability to pair my phone, 2 headsets and use it like that. I've not yet splashed out on a set of headsets and I won't be until this is resolved.

You are right to be pedantic. BMW charge for all the gizmos and they should all work. (unfortunately I dont have much trust in BMW and electronics on the bikes)
