They have been out now for some time on 1200 LC GS/A and of late on F750/850 GS/A.

Question is, how many of you current owners out there have had major failures with these units and if so what are those failures.

I am aware of some folks not being able to make it communicate with Nav, phones and intercoms. But I am not worried about that, I am worried about possible blackouts/ screen issues like de-laminations, etc.

The only failures I have heard of from forums and from dealers is from doing a firmware update and not any on the road failures.
It’s not really cutting edge technology so I don’t really expect them to crap out any more often than the analogues did unless they really cheaped out on the parts

alls good here, no issues at all ,works fine and connects easy enough

Assuming if failed during firmware upgrade, it is automatically replaced under warranty.

you worry too much, more chance of the esa going wrong, but its a 3 yr warrenty so why even stress about what could go wrong before you even bought one?

Early days yet

But so far I am very pleased with the tft

I had mixed feelings with it on test ride. Kind of liked it but then there were things I did not like. Perhaps it is a matter of getting used to it.

Probably one negative seems to be you can’t have the trip and fuel gauge at the same time?

But at least you can have the ambient temperature and clock all the time

Out of the Triumph, KTM and BMW I think it’s the clearest although I like the different layout options on the Triumph

I am sure TFT’s have a lot of evolving to come but it’s not bad IMO

Some of the updates take hours for some reason and a very few customers got a call to say that the bike would be kept longer as BMW had to replace the unit.
I had reservations about a digital speedo - flickering numbers versus a nice smooth rise and fall of an analog needle but now it doesn’t bother me. I really like the progressive rev limiter as the engine warms up reminding me to be mechanically sympathetic in the colder weather

Mine works as it should. Only negative thing is popping up of the large orange/yellow panic screens if there is a problem (SOS call not available, service overdue, tyre pressure out of range, ...).

Like this one (in Dutch). I changed back to the alloy wheels last weekend. My bike's been in service a few weeks ago, with a software update, so probably the registration of the 2nd pair of wheels got deleted, resulting in the message to stop immediately. I didn't think that was such a good idea on the middle of the motorway...

No problem with mine, but I don’t use any of the connectivity guff :)
