Hi all,

I have been thinking about changing to a flat screen monitor. I have just seen thet Makro are going to be doing a 17" Acer for £124 plus VAT & 19" for i think £155 plus VAT.

My present monitor is a 19", should i stick to this size?

Is this a good rice or should i be looking elsewhere?

Thanks in advance

Stu

17" TFT is very nearly same viewable area as 19" CRT.

i am in a similar position to you and considering a change, but want a 19" (or even bigger!) TFT.

Here are some 19" TFTs from one place I tend to buy from: http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductsList.asp?Category=29&SubCat=MON-T19&Name=&Page=1&SortBy=1
I also buy from here: http://www.ebuyer.co.uk/customer/se...12&intPage=1&bolShowAll=true&intSubcatUID=354
Obviously those are the prices for the 19"s, have a look about on their sites, the 17"s are a bit cheaper still ;)

If you are going to be watching DVDs on your PC one other thing to look for when buying a TFT monitor is what response time it has. This will generally range between 4ms(milliseconds) and 12ms. It is best to get one as close to 4ms as you can but as they can be a little more expensive don't break the bank to do it, mine is 10ms and films look fine on it.

get two

The other thing to think about is getting two - most newish video cards and operating systems can support two screens and if you are doing any work (??) then having two or three screens makes a huge difference (most reports suggest up to 30% gains in efficiency) I have two at work - it jmakes a huge difference haing two to look at!

Tft's

Thanks for the answers and advice so far, lots to think about. My computer is only a 10gb compaq so don't expect to be watching any dvd's on it.
