TFT offer

I’d prefer the TFT dash on my bike, but as it’s the only difference between mine and a 2018 bike, there’s no chance I’d actually pay more than the cost of the dash to change my bike for one. My dealer called a couple of weeks ago to try and get me to swap to a bike with TFT, but I said that unless it’ll cost £500 to change the bike, I’m not interested.

I may have missed seeing this offer before. It is for the r1200gs so I assume this is the correct section for posting.

Free TFT if you order your bike after 1st Jan and blah blah blah.....

Save £595

On the BMW site as I type. I did look to see if this had been posted before but couldn't find it.
Go figure, just after I buy mine in December

Ah but in 12 months the old clock face will be offered as a "Classic feature" at extra cost :D

You mean the reliable Adventure Analogue Clocks that you'll have to pay extra for when the TFT screens fail in extreme heat, cold, altitude, EMP Strike, and just outside Warranty.

bit of a con

Spoke to a few dealers a few months ago about switching to a new GS and was told-

The production line stops in August for holidays and when it restarts all bikes produced are classed as 2018 model year. ALL the bikes built on restart would have TFT as standard and you would need to order it with the old style if required.

Makes sense....

I was an early adopter and regret it. It doesn’t connect easily to anything and shows less information than the previous instruments. I can’t see range and tyre pressure at the same time on a long day.

Thanks for your thoughts, have been offered a good deal on a pre registered TE with the old style clocks and was wondering if I would regret not going TFT......

I've switched the range, fuel level and tyre pressures on and everything else off on the top of the main display on mine so can easily toggle through them in turn with the menu button, though TBH I've never found the tyre pressure display much use, other than to occasionally check what they are. As you say there's not as much info available on the main screen but personally I like it. Being able to tell accurately what speed you're doing with all the speed cameras and vans about is quite a novelty! I use my Nav5 for the other bits of info I want as that's just a nudge with the thumbwheel away. The way the market I going I'd guess those used bikes without the TFT display will not sell as well as those with it as many thought (me included) that the existing clocks were one of the bikes weaknesses. Pays your money and all that :D
