Has anyone had to repair their TFT screen? I accidently scratched my TFT screen and am now looking for some info on replacing the screen only. I haven't been to the dealer yet but can only imagine it would cost a fortune' and that's if they even do it? Any info would be helpful.

Can't help you with how to repair it, but probably best to just live with it as a battle scar.

Next time, buy a screen protector and put that on ASAP.

Depends how bad the scratch, and how noticeable it is (other than you know it is there), you could try polishing it out, or try a screen protector, it will quite likely hide the scratch, depends a bit on if it is a softer plastic film, or a tempered glass one, either way it sounds as if you have nothing to loose.

Go on Amazon and buy yourself a "Speedo Angels" TFT anti-glare screen protector at £9.87 a pair delivered. It may not hide the scratch but it should prevent any others from happening. Its just like a mobile phone glass screen protector, easier to replace than the screen is.

You might also consider fitting a Touratech or similar brand of TFT anti-theft bracket at about £40. Cheaper than buying a replacement screen after some scrote has made off with it.

If you really believe that why not go and by a Honda and your life will be much better.

Thanks for all the comments, think i will try a screen protector first, maybe that will hide the scratches.

I ordered mine on Amazon yesterday, arrived today. Basically just a big mobile phone type screen cover.

Regarding attempting to polish out your scratch, I would be concerned that the screen glass may have a coating which would be ruined if polished.

Personally, I think you are right to be concerned, I wouldn’t risk trying to polish a TFT screen

And in your world is BMW ownership all pretty rainbows and Unicorns ?

Face facts modern BMW's are built down to a price with ever increasing amounts of components being sourced on the cheap ftom China , my last one had its non branded original ECU fail after 30 odd months and Austrian dealer who replaced it said it was far from uncommon.

In the past few years we have had well documented spoked wheel failures, esa failures ,the r1200rt models suspension recall, paint finish debacles ,fork recalls , the f850 range having engine failures and recalls, switchgear failures etc etc

Last week in Germany my new r1250gsa with less than 1200 miles on the clock had random cruise control, heated grip and sat nav control failures, which required stopping the bike, turning off the ignition and restarting to clear . Superb quality for an £18,000 motorcycle

Fitted the "Speedo Angel" screen protector today as soon as I got the bike home from the dealers.

Took five minutes to fit, looks great and has no shine to it which helps in bright sunlight. Well worth the tenner it costs for a pair.

Yes, I did and it is - much better!
